Is there a listing of instructors that can provide the required classes needed to acquire firearms and to conceal carry on Oahu?

General Discussion / So many AR platform firearms coming up for sale
« on: November 12, 2023, 04:18:32 PM »
Am I missing something?  Seems like many AR platform firearms are being posted up for sale.  Something coming down the pike with gun laws or is it just a coincidence?

When my wife shoots with me we normally shoot on bench for 5-6 relays.  First time slot is under my name and the next time slot is under hers.  Maybe get multiple tour employees registering for consecutive time slots???

Good point.  They probably figured out how to work it in their favor 🤙🏽

The special consideration is that he was allowed to reserve that bench by keeping the target in place even after he left the area.  If he leaves, at the end of the session, he should take his target down so that the bench is available to other shooters.  Make it fair for everyone.

Went to shoot at the handgun range today.  Arrived at the same time as a van with a tour guide and some Japanese tourist.  We all walked up to the range at the same time and the previous session hadn’t ended yet.  The man with the tourist had them quickly signed in, without showing any reservation paperwork and then began shooting immediately because there was already a fresh target in place when they arrived.  At the first called cease fire, the tour guide went down range, put up new targets and then left in his van with the tourists that were shooting, He was soon back with another group of tourists and again began shooting immediately since the target was already in place.  For-profit groups using City and County provided facilities to conduct their business seems sketch.  Letting him keep his target up and funnel groups of Japanese tourists through also is sketch.  Some side hustle action.

Don’t know why the lines have been combined into the area with only one window.  At least on the other side, two officers were processing applications to acquire firearms.  Lines are long and slow and you have to wait in the long slow line for the one officer to process your request.  Even if you just want to register your firearm, which used to be a relatively quick process, you have to stand in the long line. What’s the reason?  Anyone know?

Submitted online registration request on May 30th.  Still no registration.  I called them and they said they have a backlog of several months.  I asked if I could still walk-in register even if they had my online request.  She said just let them know and they’ll cancel my request.  I should have just walked in like normal. Live and learn.  Lol.

General Discussion / Gun permit application line
« on: April 05, 2023, 01:04:17 PM »
The PTA application process would be much quicker if they required you to fill out the forms before getting into the line instead of waiting until you get to the window.  Just sayin…

@hvybarrels.  I was hoping there would be some great responses to this question.  You didn’t disappoint!  Lol!

General Discussion / Proposed ban on semi automatic firearms
« on: April 02, 2023, 11:26:43 AM »
Question for those of you who are much better informed on the politics of the 2A than I am.  If a law passes that bans the sale of some form factor’s of semi automatic firearms, do you think it will have any impact whatsoever on the semi automatic weapons that we already “legally” own?  Could forcing the public to surrender them become a thing?  Or, is it more likely that the firearms that everyone already owns will be good to go?  It’s kinda like the brace thing.  I wanted to build an AR pistol but didn’t because it looked like they would become illegal.  Those in the know, post your opinions.  As I build my collection based on what I like (no tactical reason, I just like certain firearms for their cool factor) I don’t want to invest in firearms that I might have to surrender somewhere down the line.

Went to register a rifle today then immediately went to submit PTA paperwork for a new gun.  Walked right in (stood in line actually, LOL) to submit paperwork carrying my cased rifle and processed my paperwork with no refusal of entry and no questions.  I’ve been told in the past that I could not bring a cased firearm into that office. Glad I could do it all in one trip because I won’t risk leaving guns in my locked car in a parking lot and I live far away.

Hahahaha!    Aaah.  Das why hard.  Missed the hotdog people

All I saw was “pot stickers” 😂

There was nothing for sale to drink unless you wanted a smoothie.  Slim pickings on food.  I would have gladly paid $10 for a hotdog and a Diet a coke 😂

General Discussion / 2023 Great Gun Show
« on: March 09, 2023, 06:03:00 PM »
The flyer says you can “trade” at the gun show.  Does that mean I can bring guns and offer them up for trade at the show without renting a table?

General Discussion / Re: Can I make my own black powder legally?
« on: February 16, 2023, 08:16:58 PM »
Thanks for the responses.  I’ll have to talk to some muzzleloading enthusiast here in Hawaii when the range opens and get schooled on how they work with this.  I am actively searching for a Flintlock rifle and pistol and I have been reading that Pyrodex is not gonna work very well for that.
