should be working now.,.yes it is! just notified of this response via email. thank you
I tested my own email, and it, too, is busted. So, i contacted macsak (Sysadmin) for help.thank you
Mac verified he is seeing the same problem.
i guess you picked the wrong week to use email!![]()
Seriously, no telling how long the problem would have persisted had you not reported it.
The admins in HI have no actual admin permissions, so all they do is contact someone else for help. They can do low level admin functions like changing user login permissions, locking and unlocking accounts, deleting unwanted posts, and editing anyone's comments. More technical changes and fixes seem to be kept close hold by the site owner. We've gone round and round a couple of times when the site was down or unreachable for about a week or longer. I've been waiting over a year for someone to figure out why my account doesn't have any editing permissions using the TAPATALK app.
There's another symptom of your problem other than manually sending emails. The forum lets you enable certain notifications, like when you get a Private Message. I have that enabled, and none of the PMs i sent Mac resulted a notification to my email account. Mac has that turned on as well, and he noticed the same thing when I PM'ed him.
He said he was going to "Text Brent."
I'll let you know if I see any progress.
My first guess is it's your ISP or company firewall rejecting the messages. Many firewalls filter out any and all gun-related addresses for web access, emails, or both.I have done everything and still no luck. I use gmail for this 2a account. I tried to send a test message and I did not receive anything.
Try going into Profile ==> Summary using the top menu bar. Then click the email icon right under your avatar (user image).
If you do that, you should see the same email address for both the sender and recipient. Verify they are the same. Send yourself a test message from that screen.
Then, copy and paste that email address into your email client as a new message and send. Give it a minute to be received.
If all that is good, then you'll need an administrator on here to help. I'm using a gmail account for my 2A account to send to. If you are using a different mail service, maybe try setting up a free gmail account if you don't already have one and try it. That might narrow down the problem to your mail server, not your 2A account.

rookie numbers!
think "Lifetime Supply".
half dozen or more. if you're going to go through all the trouble of HPD permit, registration, parking, standing in line, jumping through hoops, make it worth your while. throw in a couple of AR-10 lowers, just for future dreams. don't forget to get some in Flat Dark Earth (FDE). Black guns under the Hawaii sun get really hot when sitting out there on the open range, maybe not so in the KHSC shade, though, admittedly.
especially since AR-15 lowers are going for between $50 and $100 each, depending on how picky you are for branding.
just my 2 cents.
Yes, Colt or Colt style 9mm AR-15 mags are good to go in Hawaii. I have several 20 and 32 rounders for my Colt 9mm AR-15.Awesome. Thanks for sharing
That usually entails adding a screw, pin or other material to the mag that prevents inserting it into any pistol.Very cool. Thanks for the info
You could drill a hole in the mag and epoxy a pin into it. Then you'd need to cut a groove or slot into the magwell of the carbine to align with that pin so it can be fully inserted. Sort of an "insert Tab A into Slot B" mod.
You won't be able to insert the modified mag into any unmodified firearm without removing the mod to the mag or modifying the firearm. However, you will still be able to use unmodified mags in the carbine.
This is correct.Interesting. How would you modify a mag to not work in a pistol but in the carbine?
Some people get around this by permanently modifying the carbine and magazines, where it only fits that and not pistols.
Though since you cannot have the pistol mags initially, it has to be modified out of state or by a ffl or Leo in Hawaii
are you moving to Hawaii, the Big Island? or Oahu, Hawaii.Honolulu. Not military.
if you're active-duty military (or DoD), you can shoot your Barrett 50 at Schofield.
although I'm sure there's some space on the BI for a 50.
Didn't have the ability to type a lot so now I do.
1) How long will you live here for?
All guns in HI must be registered with the police (HPD). There is no way to un-register them if you leave the state. Also u have X days to notify HPD if you are "permanently" leaving the state by which guns are leaving.
With the above being said, I would only bring the minimal amount of guns needed if you will be here for less than 5 years. And securely store the rest on the mainland.
2) Another benefit to buying the guns on the mainland is for handguns to be purchased in HI, you have to take a Hawaii handgun safety class. Then add in the 2 week wait per handgun that I mentioned above. So if you can afford them, buy them on the mainland. Unless you're coming from CA that has a handgun registry and those you want are not on the approved list. What also ties in is #1 and how long u gonna be here.
Guns in HI are typically more expensive than on the mainland. And selection isn't usually as good. VP9 should be on the shelf here, but the others may not. It's hit or miss, but stores can special order.
There is no class required for a rifle (long gun) or shotgun. But you still need a permit to buy them from HPD. Unlike handguns that are serial number specific, the long gun/shotgun permits to buy are good for 1 year. But you still have to register them.
Definitely google HRS134 and read most of it. It's in legalese, so for me, I had to read each sentence like 5 times to understand it. You can also check out the legal section if you have questions or any other section on this forum.
