FYI just found out today that the HPD / Action bay side of the will probably closed till possibly December, don't know about the skeet / trap side.

AG CHIN on KGMB this morning said he is joining other Dem state AG.s, in mot allowing CCW Reciprocal. CCW in Hawaii was probably never going to happen and now the Reciprocal with other states is going to be out. Without the Democrats being voted out here and more changes with the judges on the 9th and Supreme Court, its not going to happen for Hawaii.
With the possible changes in the rifle mag limit and CCW for Hawaii and what ever else is coming, it might be time to move to the real America across the ocean LOL.

Do you have CCW classes ? what state and cost.. thanks

Maybe you have to check with the AG's office, I know their are a couple of hundred or more retired LEO's with LEOSA permits (Good for all 50 states).
8
If Kealoha and other retired City, State & Federal law enforcement officers want to get a permit to carry its done thru the AG's office thru the LEOSA process not thru the City, it wont show up as concealed carry permits issued by the City.

But Hawaii's LEOSA requirements are a joke, they set it up to make it time consuming and expensive to do to discourage you from applying. By the time you get done with all the requirements you have to start all over again. No other state does it like Hawaii, when I checked it a couple of years ago.
Theirs a LEOSA forum for info.

General Discussion / Re: Hawaii Guns
« on: April 25, 2016, 03:17:19 PM »
The law allows them to carry off duty. Their policies require them to.

Here is the statute that allows cops to carry firearms off duty, have short barreled rifles, have silencers, magazines greater than 10 rounds, etc.
http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol03_Ch0121-0200D/HRS0134/HRS_0134-0011.htm

Per the HPD policies, the barrel length on the long guns and shotguns for the officers has to be 16" or longer, no silencers are allowed, only the swat officers are allowed to carry the Dept/Swat issued short barreled Ar's and shotguns. The only firearms that they had with suppressors were the MP-5's that they used to have.
The AG's office handles the LEOSA permits.

It smells like its going to be negative.

That's what we believed about the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution: It'd be good in all 50 states... but Hawaii's "special".

It is for all of us who qualify, but when this enacted by the Federal Government back in 04 our AG who was Mark Bennett and his Deputy AG Chris Young who is still working. Setup the LEOSA guide lines / requirements for Hawaii and made it so it would discourage the people who could apply for the permit.
After you do all the paper work (which you have to submit every year when you reapply), you have to go and get an eye test & hearing test, which you have to do every 2 years, (good luck if you have Kaiser) the tests don't make any sense, you have no police powers and with any CCW permit on the mainland you don't have to do this BS !.
Then you have to submit 2 passport photos every year when you renew (with HPD you take a new ID photo every 5 or 7yrs don't remember now) then you pay $100. every year and have to qualify every year at the range with only 1 of the approved calibers, if you want to qualify with a second caliber you have to come back on another day.
And this permit is only good for 1 year, so by the time you do everything you almost have to start doing all over again because of the time it takes, which again is a bunch of BS!
So dream on if you think there is going to be any CCW in Hawaii in the near future, maybe in 10-15 years..lol   and will probably cost $100. year compared to other states were its $50 on average for 5 years.

If you have a LEOSA permit its good for all 50 states, go to LEOSAonline.com for info.

General Discussion / Re: Traveling to the mainland with a firearm
« on: February 29, 2016, 02:06:45 PM »
Just buy a TSA approved lockbox or a Pelican case will work, I go an extra step when I transport a handgun to the mainland. I break the gun down before I put it in the box/case, remove the slide etc..,so when you have to open it for they get a little stiffey seeing that the gun cant be fired without having to put it back together first.
They don't like the ammo to be in the case with the gun unless its a different caliber, in case the bag rats etc.. take it they would be able to load it up and go to town with it.
Must of the airlines will allow each person to bring 11/12 lbs of ammo per person, (Alaska Airlines allows more)  just has to be in the factory box and which I put all the boxes of ammo into a box that will hold all of it and just tape it up.
Been doing it for years never had a problem.

Instead of everybody going around and around on all this, one of the things that needs to be done is to vote all these people out of office. A lot People here in this state are like sheep they don't wont to rock the boat so they follow each other right into the slaughter house every election year.  We have a Governor that's a joke, TMT, wants to raise the gas tax, veh tax etc.. and the majority of the other elected aren't any better, anti gun, CCW etc.. they should also have a term limit so maybe you always would have some people who will change and improve things.
Next year is an election year for a lot of this people, so send a message and vote these dip shits out !!.

Washington State and Idaho have what they call an enhanced CCW permit, but in both states you are required to attend an 8 hr class. The Washington one is class room only, the Idaho one is class room than you shoot a course of fire to qualify, forgot what the cost is for Washington in Idaho its $100. Both are good for 5 years, the Washington CCW is actually the Utah permit which is honored in 32 states and the Idaho is good for 37 states.

General Discussion / Re: New Change in Firearm Paper Work at HPD
« on: January 10, 2016, 06:03:35 PM »
Has anybody who has Kaiser gone down to HPD since since Jan 1 2016 and been able to pick up their permits for firearms, I know they went back to the old way, sign the release form, thumb print. But I was just told by somebody at Kaiser that their lawyers are still reviewing the matter and that Kaiser has not sent back anything to HPD, so you wont be able to get your permit.
And on top of that somebody went done to the Kaiser Records section at Dole Cannery and went off on the people there, that they considered it a hostile work incident and so you can no longer go down there in person to get a copy of your records etc.., it appears your going to have request submit some kind form thru the mail, sign it and mail it back.

Just got word from an inside source: it's someone specifically in the firearms department causing this headache and not from the upper echelons.

If its somebody in the firearms section its, Sgt Jaeger, he runs the unit there is a Lt. that oversees several other sections in records that he reports too. But the Sgt., is able to make/suggest changes in how the unit functions, he probably b.s the Lt. who doesn't really understand what goes on.
Sgt Jaeger was assigned to the Training Division / running the range for firearms training and department qualifications for several years, till he got reassigned because of the people he pissed off and now he got assigned to Firearms, feels he has all this power again.

For the people that are concerned, if you applied prior to yesterday, the new changes do not affect you.

So far just those 2 changed, I was done at HPD today when they told me about the change, on the paper they gave me it tells the Doctor what they are looking for and it also has a copy of HRS 134-18, which informs them that they cant be held liable if you go nuts after its submitted. Kaiser is the one that is anti-guns, if you qualify for a LEOSA permit, you don't want to go to them it will get rejected and all screwed, you are better off going paying an outside Doctor to get the medical side or the LEOSA requirement's  taken care of.
