Reloading / Re: loose primer identification
« on: July 18, 2023, 02:58:52 PM »
I have a dozen or so loose primers, is there a way to tell pistol from rifle?

Un-identified Small primers...use it to load pistol ammo, they are interchangeable for pistol loads (not recommended to use pistol primers for rifle loads)
Un-identified Large primers....Large rifle primers are taller than large pistol primers

So many factors:

Gun
Grip
Intended purpose/outcome
Style

Answer: do what works for you. Try different techniques and see what feels the most comfortable and natural.

yup, HA limit on ammo is 11lbs, but I had in some occasion I went over the 11 lbs, but the agent did not say anything or checked the ammo....so it depends on the agent checking-in your luggage.  Also, porter services are more relax, as long as they get good tip :shaka:

standard 9mm diameter is .355, but I would try .356 (.38 super) as well, and see which shoots more accurately.

14.5 looks better with bayonet, but can't change muzzle device easily.

I think, the best solution is not get stuck in traffic in the first place, if at all possible.  Check local traffic news before traveling, so you can avoid such scenarios, and best to wait it out until it dies down.

Other than what a waste of good scarce ammo, it was a great and informative video.  Yeah, should be a part of standard training video for all fire fighters.

you can also check the powder manufacturer for load data.  I think, the only thing that will determine the manufacturer of the bullets might be in the original container, or where you ordered the bullets from (Montana Gold, Precision Delta, etc).

For plinking, just use whatever available.  For accuracy and competition, determine your best loads by trial and error as well as chrono, case over all length, bullet type, etc.  For self defense, I would not use my reloads (unless I have to), use factory loaded ammo (for liability purposes).

I think majority of people here in Hawaii never think of packing supplies in their vehicles. I for one never did until the bridge incident near Radford HS.

With all cars at a stand still with no where to go many were stuck for hours. No place to go bathroom and no water to drink made people miserable. I can only imagine those that were making the commute to the west side with an infant in the car. Packing some extras is a good thing.

Can anyone tell me how they store water? After being in the heat, plastic water bottles changes the flavor.

put your water bottles in a cooler with ice or other supplies in a cooler

Yup, sad to say that Military HQ...Doug Boyer is closing at the end of the year.  I heard, there will be closing out sale starting November 1st and Doug will still have his table at the gun shows as well as internet sales.
