Not clear if someone currently possessing a rifle with one or more of the 8 “attachment” characteristics would be grandfathered or even be able to pass them down to someones kid or would their firearms become illegal to own under this bill, exception being antique firearms under their definition? I get the .50 cal, pistols and mags not being grandfathered but the attachment part is somewhat ambiguous, to me at anyways. Seems like an attempt to accomplish what the original bill had but wordsmithing intentionally to confuse other legislators in order to accomplish his original objective....essentally a assult weapons ban and a lot of semi-auto other weapons to boot. just not clear to me.

Under this proposed asinine law, are current firearms grandfathered in or is this a sweeping ban on all current registered firearms that meet the outlined criteria?  I read the entire proposed amendment but it wasn’t really clear to me. Thanks!

The language looks similar to the verbiage in the 1994 federal assault weapon ban. Looks like Biden and his administration is pressuring the states to push this crap at the state level. BTW…just seen this mentioned on Fox News by Joey Jones as he stated Hawaii is attempting to go against the federal ruling and US Constitution by banning virtually all firearms. Was his one bad thing of the week topic.

Seems unconstitutional to me and definitely a sure fire way to minimize gun ownership in the state. The COVID justification to infringe on our constitutional rights is a joke.

Additionally, you should contact the carrier you wish to use for their latest policies, as they tend to change.

When I mailed my Sig into the company for recall upgrades, I remember the FedEx policy said they only accepted shipments of firearms at customer service centers, not places like Kinkos or Mailboxes,Etc.  I dropped it off at the Lagoon Drive Main FedEx location, and it was returned to my home address.

No re-registration needed.  The receiver was already registered.  That's all that's required.
Thanks!

Yep.  HPD "would like" to keep their registration information close to accurate, so if you add a 16" barrel, they will note that on the new registration.

There's no law that says changes in the configuration (or completion of a build) requires another visit for inspection.

If you're building an AR pistol, they do require that you demonstrate you've mitigated it being classified an "assault pistol".  Making the mag non-detachable or eliminating the semi-auto function completely (have to cycle the action manually) are the most common mitigation steps.
Can you ship the already registered receiver via USPS registered insured mail to a licensed FFL gunsmith on the mainland, and then have the completed rifle shipped back to your house or does it need to be shipped FFL to Hawaii FFL?  Also, it sounds like the completed build (complete rifle) does not have to be re-registered at HPD?

The Republicans have quietly been filling judge vacancies across the nation with conservatives and the 9th Circus is high on their radar because they are probably, if not, the most liberal court in the nation. They did suffer a setback last week when the White House withdrew the nomination of Ryan Bounds for the Ninth Circuit after realizing it did not have the necessary support in the Senate, but that vacancy will be filled with a Trumpster conservative judge. Hopefully a few more in the 9th Circuit will vacant and the Republicans on Trump's coattails can reshape the 9th, and then we'll have a fighting chance on future cases!

Ignoring the obvious failure to properly word this resolution, someone needs to point out the FL school shooter was carrying 15 x 10rd AR15 magazines.

10rd limits solve no real problems.
Point well taken...they'll make it 9rd maximum capacity to take care of their glaring ignorance...I mean oversight. ;D

How ironic and humorous...Karma is a bitch! McCabe is whining like a little baby because he got fired and lost his retirement, but he had no problem screwing and railroading General Flynn, completely ruining him, his family and his reputation, leaving him in disgrace and broke. McCabe is as dirty as the come and deserves everything that is and will be coming his way. I find it funny and now he is making it look like Trump was after him, so we already know he is going to try to claim he was wrongfully targeted by Trump and his administration. McCabe is a dirtbag of the worst type and he, along with others have tarnished the FBI and public trust.

Quote
"This attack on my credibility is one part of a larger effort not just to slander me personally, but to taint the FBI, law enforcement, and intelligence professionals more generally," McCabe said. "It is part of this Administration's ongoing war on the FBI and the efforts of the Special Counsel investigation, which continue to this day. Their persistence in this campaign only highlights the importance of the Special Counsel's work."

Legal and Activism / Bump Stocks look to be on the way out....

The U.S. Department of Justice formally submitted a regulation on Saturday to ban “bump stocks,” a modification to high-capacity rifles that lets them fire like an automatic weapon.

I would imagine not all people who end up in the situation of having their firearms taken are bad apples and with that premise, hypothetically, if the firearms are in a trust, would/could the firearms remain in the trust with, lets say spouse or adult child of legal age to possess firearms, provided they have completed the pre-requisite training for ownership?

Any threat of a ban is amplified dramatically because of the Internet, social media and online purchases. Back in 89 things traveled slow and were more localized. You had to pick up a phone or physically go to a store. When Clinton again lowered the hammer in 1994, people were more ready and almost anticipated it, at least in my neck of the woods. People weren't as prepared or ready as today. Since that first hit in 1989 on these weapons, we are always on the ready, so many people have stocked up and somewhat anticipate that a ban is always a possibility. Decades have passed and the thought of any ban, still brings the same outrage but with the Internet it's amplified. The MSM is so far leaning left and biased that everything gets distorted drastically and adds to the outrage.

Sad because all the insane laws, and not just gun laws, eventually drive really good people out of these states, or at least those people who can leave and are willing to uproot everything. In the end, the liberal politicians win and have a state full of like minded flaming liberals. California is the prototype and that state is full of flaming liberals, who love their sanctuary cities, disarming the citizenry little by little, hatred for law enforcement and enforcement of the laws, etc, etc. Hawaii is heading down a very similar path.

I seen that and cringed. Hopefully just an act, because that, hopefully is a non-starter with republicans. Hopefully he is just saying that knowing the republicans will remove it. Trump is such a wildcard, you never know what he will do.

Mark Walters of Armed American Radio is firmly convinced that Trump will sign a bumpstock ban executive order tomorrow.

I'm pretty certain it will be coming real soon...Trump already said publicly that he has his people drafting it now.

Sounds like Trump is going to ban bump stocks by EO but I haven't seen him mention trigger cranks yet. Whether at the federal or state level, I think it's safe to assume bump stocks will be a thing of the past fairly soon.
