I did not know #2 and #10.
Related to #5, what is the legality of owning or carrying metal knuckles?

Yukutake & Kikukawa v Lopez, 9th Circuit En Banc Hearing - Pasadena, CA.
Tuesday March 24 at 11am HST

Tomorrow is the hearing, before the 11 judge panel, for my lawsuit regarding the requirement for inspections on non-Hawaii FFL acquired firearms at police stations and the 30 day expiration dates on handgun permit to acquire.  This case has been going on for seven years.  This lawsuit has already produced results saving myself and the people of Hawaii time and money:
1.  Extended Wednesday firearms hours at HPD
2.  Emailed permit to acquire
3.  Remote registration for Hawaii FFL acquired firearms
4.  30 day (instead of 10 day) handgun permit to acquire expirations.

Please give a shout out to my Attorney Alan Beck who will represent us at the hearing tomorrow.  You can watch live on YouTube at the link.

Just for what has changed thus far, I am extremely grateful for this, thank you!

Well they told me to get all the forms to fill out. And come back with the forms and my hunters ed or handgun ed affidavit 14 days before my permit expires. I just have no clue why have to be 14 days. So basically that’s in 2 weeks from now. Before the count down of 14 days start. I’m soo confused. Why couldn’t they just do it like the following day when I bring back all paper work?
As I understand it, we aren't allowed to have 2 unexpired PTAs.  Because it takes 14-days for a new PTA, at the time of pickup, the existing one will have expired.

For the LTC checklist item, "Proof of State of Hawaii residency", what did you all provide?

General Discussion / Re: Registration - Caliber Change
« on: November 03, 2024, 09:27:54 PM »
Fill out the Permit to Acquire application with the existing caliber: 9mm.

When you get the permit and the firearm together, you have to register it.  The new registration under your name will be for a 9mm.

There's no reason for the current owner to update the old registration.  It's going to be superceded by your new registration anyway.

Thanks for the info.

General Discussion / Registration - Caliber Change
« on: November 03, 2024, 07:45:50 PM »
A seller registered a pistol as 22lr but later converted it to 9mm, S/N unchanged.  I'm interested in purchasing but can I apply and register as 9mm even though current registration says 22lr?  Or does the seller need to re-register with HPD first?  If re-register, is the process as simple as him going down to re-register or is it a whole new pistol buying process for him?  Thanks.

How far in advance before expiration can a person their ccw license?

I reviewed my emails and the fee waiving is for the Firearm Safety Course.  They charge $199.99 for this course.  There is no mention of CCW course.

Anyone take the Firearms International safety course?

Any problems acquiring permit using their affidavit?

Today at 9:45 am, one person leaving, no one in line. Took 10 minutes to renew Long Gun after showing LTC/CCW and Driver's License, got permit, no need to go back for pickup
Please clarify, for LTC holders, there is no waiting the 10-days for a Long Gun permit?  I had read this was the case for Handgun permits but not Long Gun permits.

General Discussion / Re: HPD issuing any CCW permits?
« on: September 11, 2023, 03:17:41 PM »
My experience below, hopefully it's helpful to someone.

1.  Received certified letters from C&C Honolulu after ~150 days.  Since signature was required and no one to receive, a trip to the post office was necessary.
2.  Received 1 letter for each handgun qualified on (e.g., 2 handguns = 2 letters = $20).
3.  Went to the Registration Room at HPD.
4.  Provided letters, ID, cash and immediately took a seat outside the room.
5.  ~30 minutes later, name was called and letters, ID, LTCs, and cash receipt were returned.
6.  LTC observations:
     a.  Received 1 plastic LTC for each handgun.
     b.  LTC expiration date is 1-year from the pickup date at HPD.
     c.  Included on LTC are photo, height, hair, weight, eyes but it states, "This card is not to be used as a valid government issued photo identification card".

Legal and Activism / Re: Medical Waiver Lawsuit Filed
« on: April 22, 2022, 08:38:19 AM »
For affected by frivolous denials and need a 2A doctor, hold off for a bit if you can.  We're trying to find a solution with the C&C of Honolulu to stop these denials.

For those wondering why sue the county/state for this when it's easier and cheaper to just get cleared from a doctor....this affects hundreds of people a year paying hundreds of dollars each, wasting hours of time, and having their guns rust away in a police station.  As a whole, costs gun owners tens of thousands of dollars each year.  Not to mention people that just give up their 2A rights and don't pursue it.  Also looks bad on the annual firearms denial report from the AG.

Thank you to all involved for this lawsuit.

Legal and Activism / Re: New Registration info
« on: January 04, 2022, 03:08:48 PM »
Got my registration back as a two part email. First was a password and second email was the pdf of the registration form. I didn’t get any hassle over not providing  info on barrel length, action type, or caliber as it was an AR lower.

One point of interest was that the info that they populated my permit with wasn’t consistent with my long gun permit. Weight difference, employer name, and complexion were all from older applications. Same company with a different project group so no big deal and I guess I’ll have to get a little more tan and dump 10 lbs to get back down to my fighting weight.

Thank you Direjackalope for sharing your experience.  I now know what to expect.
