This is awesome, I am going to find out about sending some support, and make up some fliers to post on base to get some soldiers to support her.  Way to go young shooter, keep embarrassing those troops with your great shooting. :D

How is the weather throughout the year?
Are there any areas you'd recommend to get some acreage on?

2a,   Most areas of Idaho have your general four seasons.  Though if you move into the central and northern mountains you will have a very cold winter with 6+ feet of snow per year.  If you look further south in the high desert you will still have very cold winters, but not as much snow.  Outside of the Boise(Treasure Valley area) and the few resort areas land prices are still good, most areas you can find 20+ acres for 50K-70K, or a nice house on the same amount of land for in the 200's.  It is a beautiful state with friendly people and you can drive 10 - 15 minutes from almost any town and find your own private shooting range on federal land.  CCW is cheap and easy to get, if you have ever taken a hunter safety class, or any pistol safety class it will work for the permit.  If you don't want a permit you can open carry anywhere, and once you are outside of an incorporated city you can CC without a permit.  I would suggest anyone interested in freedom take a look at Idaho.  It is truly a great place.

I'll be going back to Idaho after I retire.  It is truly a free state, and I love the mountains and snow.

Firearms and Accessories / Re: What was your first gun?

My first gun was a Winchester Model 94 .30-30.  It was my Grandfathers, then my fathers, then I got it on my 12th birthday when I became old enough to hunt big game(in Idaho).  I shot my first deer and my first bear with it that year.  It still shoots just like it was brand new, though it doesn't look like it.

Strategies and Tactics / Re: Best way to concealed carry?

I am new to Hawaii, and have lived many places where I was allowed to protect myself.  In warm weather I don't use anything but the Smart Carry holster.  I can wear my 5" double stack ParaOrd 1911 in shorts and a t-shirt and no one ever sees it.  It is a little slower to draw from than a normal IWB holster, but as long as you stay in condition yellow and are alert to your surroundings that won't matter.  I personally don't like the idea of fanny packs, for the same reason my wife never carries in her purse, I want something that is attached to my body that cannot be easily removed.  A fanny pack usually has a quick release snap on the belt, one sly move from an assailant can remove the fanny pack and put your gun out of the fight.

I am new in Hawaii, how is he good for us.  Does he support 2A and our right to defend ourselves?  Is he going to approve more than just 1 concealed carry application?  Any information on this would be great.

Where I grew up in Idaho the Fish and Game would ticket that lady for wanton waste.  There if the game is shot on legal hunting land and goes onto private land they have to let you collect it, or they will be fined.

Hello Everyone,

I found you through THR.  I am glad to see this in Hawaii.  I am active army, and just got stationed here in July 09.  I must say that the experience of having to go downtown and register my guns was the worst experience of my life.  I am from the free state of Idaho, and never thought I would have to register a firearm.  Anyway, now that I am here I would like to help to change the laws of Hawaii in any way I can.  Glad to be aboard.
