Sorry.  PA only accepts AZ permits for AZ residents as well.

Yeah I just chalk it up to "I'm Screwed".

Okay, I was confused by what you said the PA Police said.

They will not issue a PA non-resident permit unless the applicant holds a permit from their state of residence, given that their state's law allows issue of CCW permits.

However, they DO honor non-resident CCW licenses from certain states (see that list I posted).

When I cross-reference the list of states that issue non-resident permits to Hawaii residents with the list of states PA honors, the only match I find is Texas.

So, unless you have business in one of the other states that issue to non-residents, or are military and meet certain other criteria, that's about as close as you can get from here.

Maybe I'm missing something, but that's what I was able to locate.

Good luck!

Yeah it seemed Texas was the best choice.  Of course the whole non-resident thing messes it up.

Are you sure you wouldn't rather visit North Carolina?  They honor all states' CCW licenses, both resident and non-resident!   :D

I think Alaska does too!  Nah I have family in PA.   :shaka:

Here's a really good map.  You can see which states honor a carry license from any state you select, both resident and non-resident.  You can also see which states' licenses are honored by the state you choose.

http://www.usacarry.com/concealed_carry_permit_reciprocity_maps.html

So, here's the deal.  Hawaii DOES NOT ISSUE PERMITS.  They say they MAY, but they do not.  So, don't even go down that path.

Other states issue NON-RESIDENT licenses.  For example, I just received a non-resident CCW card from Maine.  Many states honor non-resident Maine licenses, a few of which I intend to visit soon.

Based on the map at the link above, these states' non-resident licenses are honored for carry in Pennsylvania:

Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming

Based on that list, the Utah license won't help you for carrying in PA.  You need to look into applying for a non-resident license from the list above.

They said even with a non-resident permit from the states above, Pennsylvania will not honor it unless the state you actually reside in (Hawaii) reciprocates, which it doesn't.  I know Hawaii isn't a "shall issue" state so I'm not sweating that.  I'm not sure why, but that's what the Sheriff's Office said in Pennsylvania.

Yes you can. OGC offers the CCW class for UTAH. It will also cover these states including Texas which is listed on this website. http://publicsafety.utah.gov/bci/FAQother.html

What covers texas?  The Utah permit? Or the training from a Utah instructor for a Texas permit?  Either way, I discovered my venture pointless now.  The sole reason of doing this was to be able to conceal carry for 2 weeks out of the year in the state of Pennsylvania.  The only problem is the state of Hawaii needs to reciprocate to PA.  An out of state one is not good enough if you're from a state that does not reciprocate.  I called the Sheriff's Office of Delaware County, PA to confirm this.

Anyone know if it is possible to receive training in Hawaii to acquire a Texas Concealed Carry Permit?  I do not see an online course available seems to be pretty big for Virginia though.  I'm assuming I need an instructor here.  I'm unsure how to locate one, if they exist here, if it's allowed to be taught out of state.  Thanks in advance.
