I am returning to island in a few weeks and brining my guns with me.  Does anyone have this memo so I can get my doc to sign now and I can bring with me for registration?

General Discussion / AK barrel length question
« on: February 28, 2016, 01:48:17 PM »
I have a question about one of my AKs that I'm going to bring back to island with me next month.  It's a Zastava M85 Underfolding Rifle with faux barrel extension.

The measurement that HPD will do is my question.

When HPD measures the barrel length, would they start at the receiver or measure where the barrel begins "at the bolt face with the bolt closed" inside the rifle receiver?

If they measure from the bolt face with the bolt closed then I have a 16 /2 " barrel.  I have a 16 1/2" wood dowel in it and it sits flush with the bolt face with the bolt closed.

If they measure from the beginning of the receiver then I have a 15" barrel.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

I am returning to island in a few months and have a question about one of my AKs.  It's a Zastava M85 underfolding AK with 10" barrel and faux barrel supressor that equals 17" total from chamber end of barrel.  The faux supressor does not come off as it has been welded in place.  Can anyone tell me if HPD will register this or give me a hard time?

I'm military returning to Oahu soon and wanted to know if my UC-9 Carbine is legal in the state, does anyone know?  Don't want HPD to confiscate it when I go to register

General Discussion / Re: Moving firearms to Oahu from another state
« on: May 10, 2015, 02:40:14 AM »
I knew I was moving back to Oahu for good after my time in the military, so I took all my handgun mags that held more than 10 rounds and installed "mag blocks" to limit them all to 10 rounds.  My Sig P226, Hi Power, Glock 19 all hold 10 rounds now.  If you go to http://www.magazineblocks.com/magento/ find the product you need, install with the permanent epoxy you will be good to go.  I kept my rifle magazines (Hi Cap) AKs, ARs, FAL, M1A mags and only put 5 in them when I go shooting at Koko Head.  Good source of knowledge from forum members on this site guided me with the legal rules of what I could bring back and not bring back.  One regret, I had to sell my Ruger Charger and S&W M&P 15-22P Pistol since they were considered Assault Pistols and banned in the state.

Also, don't bring any magazines when you go register, be sure weapons are unloaded and transported in gun cases.

General Discussion / 5.45x39 availability?

Does anyone know of a good source of this ammo on island, and for about how much?

Not a bad idea, I might take it apart and store it  and fire my 10 rounders.  I am moving back for good and won't leave anything on mainland.  Gotta prep 35 guns for the trip and make sure they are in compliance, had to get rid of 12 that were not legal and I didn't feel like owning a bolt action AR and AK pistols or welding the mags to the receiver.  Mahalo, thanks for good info

thank you for the suggestions, I plan to epoxy to bottom of spring assembly so I can disassemble and clean.  This is a original Waffenamt stamped magazine

So if I installed the mag block using lock title and left it in place, that would be okay?  Or jut install it without lock tite?

Does anyone know for sure if a WWII German Hi Power magazine with a mag block installed taking it from 13 to 10 round capacity meet state laws?  Or does the state law only allow original 10 round capacity for handguns?  The mag block would limit the mag to 10 rounds, please let me know

Reloading / Ordering online shipping gun powder on island?
« on: December 14, 2014, 12:53:17 PM »
Is it possible to order powder online and have it shipped to my home address at regular shipping costs to HI?  Any hidden costs or anything I'm not thinking of?

I'm returning to Oahu and have fully prepped my 308, 223 and 9mm to be reloaded, all I need is powders.  Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could buy some of the following powders? Reloader 15, Reloder 10X, Unique?  What store would be best to get all the reloading components at?  Three years ago I use to go to WGS and it was hit or miss if they would have what I needed.  Mahalo for your assistance
