My friend says that firearms no longer have to be brought in to be registered.

I checked the hpd website and couldn’t find any thing saying that the firearm had to be brought in…..but I’m so used to bringing them in

(I understand that eventually firearms can be registered on line)

Thanks!

Tulsi may have served in the military.  But I doubt she is a weapons expert.  Her unit is a rear-echelon unit.  It is not a front line unit.

She DID serve in the Hawaii Army National Guard, I remember her as an E4 (Specialist) back when she was assigned to a Medical unit in Kalaeloa (former Barbers Point NAS). As the years progressed and the deployments came around I seen her in passing and noticed she was a 2nd LT (Butter bar). To call one's self a weapons expert with ONLY qualifying on the range ONCE-a-Year would hardly be an accurate statement to make in her case. It would be a stretch to say that being "WELL-TRAINED" in your assigned weapon(s) (M9/17 9mm pistol & M4 rifle) would be accurate. And yes, she's served in units in the rear....which by definition would only make her qualify once-a-year just to stay current on the assigned taskings per individual soldier.
Early in my career (90's), I was assigned to a Cavalry unit and we would train on live fire ranges more times than I can remember, crew serve weapons (M60 MG, M2 .50cal MG, mounted & dismounted) along with the individual M4/16 rifle w/M203. Training with weapons/firearms is a "perishable" skill, many NEW recruits have a hard time qualifying nonetheless understanding the fundamentals of breathing control, trigger squeeze/reset, sight picture and recoil management.
Units now depend SOLELY on technology as training aids which makes soldiers LAZY rather than the "old skool" methods of having a senior NCO teaching classes in a field environment AWAY from the Garrison. Oh well, it's NOT what it used to be.....

Just purchased the UPDATED Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x24 with the AR BDC3 MOA reticle. Took it to X-Ring Security to zero and I'm pleased with the results.

General Discussion / American Eagle SYNTECH Ammunition in 9mm, .40 & .45
« on: January 07, 2019, 08:12:52 PM »
Has anyone tried this ammunition?? Saw a YouTube video, claims the ammunition burns cleaner, keeps your barrel cooler & extends the life cycle of your barrel. Has anyone on this forum shot with this ammo?? Haven't gone to the gun store to see if it's stocked in inventory. Pretty sure it's stocked on the mainland though.

Thanks, been bringing food the last few times, only to not eat it.  Very time consuming.  Because of our "places to keep law", I can't pick up okazu on the way.  I have to grab it, then go back  home and grab gear.

If this helps any, rather than bring perishable food.....snack bars, protein bars or breakfast bars may suffice. It's easier to eat and carry around.

General Discussion / Re: AZ CCW drive at Prime Sports Sept. 1st
« on: September 02, 2018, 02:33:45 PM »
Me and my wife were fortunate to get our fingerprinting portion done in the shop. Here's a suggestion, is it possible to utilize 1 of the conference rooms upstairs to conduct the screening of documentation and have an ACTUAL table to do the fingerprinting? While standing outside Prime Sports, neighboring businesses were concerned that their doors to their shops were being blocked due to the line that extended down the walkway. Customers had to maneuver thru the line to get thru to where they were going.
I would have to say in my honest opinion the ladies that were doing the fingerprinting could have done it better. Agencies that require fingerprinting cards done the old fashioned way with ink pads have strict standards on the way it is conducted. The print NEEDS to be in a BLOCK pattern, meaning that the finger(s) need to be "rolled" edge to edge on the ink pad then "rolled" edge to edge on the card. The ladies were lifting the ink pad to the finger(s), rolling the finger(s) and then using a white block "peel & stick" type method (rolling the finger) and pasting it to the fingerprint card. Looking at the result of doing that may cause most of the cards to be rejected by the investigating agency as the latent prints are NOT FULLY or PARTIALLY "blocked" as required.
There is an actual LATENT FINGERPRINTING KIT that is packaged in a "tool box" with everything you need to conduct the process.
I just hope that none of the prints that were taken yesterday are "REJECTED" and the application process goes smoothly. If there are ANY REJECTIONS WHATSOEVER, what is the FINANCIAL recourse of those patrons that "PAID" for the service?? Can the fingerprinting be done....FREE of charge due to the prints being REJECTED the first time and conducted in the right way?? or REFUND of money paid for the fingerprint service.
Any future events like this should be carefully planned and executed to prevent un-necessary confusion and extended wait times.
Assigning "times" to return to the shop won't resolve the issue, it won't help the wait-times. Because of the unforeseen numbers of those that participated yesterday were large, perhaps by utilizing the conference room upstairs , find out the capacity of the room and take that number, for instance....let's say the max capacity of the room is 50 personnel, minus out the personnel assisting with the service let's say 6, so 44 people can apply for the CCW for that given day. Use social media....FB, IG and other platforms to reach out and take 44 reservations that PREPAID and done. The conference room will provide a closed environment to the public, less distraction and interruption to neighboring businesses. It'll also provide a definite number of applicants that will be processed.

What would make him think that what he was doing was inappropriate? He should be charged with inappropriate misconduct, committing unlawful use of political campaign funds & conduct unbecoming a member of a political office.

Political Discussion / Re: Kaniela Ing hit a new low - FULL RETARD
« on: March 10, 2018, 12:18:46 PM »
Apparently whatever he is doing is working as some people are donating more $$$ to his campaign for this. Shame. On another issue he implies to push for a minimum wage closer to $34 to meet rent costs in Hawaii. I doubt he paid attention in econ or if he ever took it. This guy is dangerous to our democracy. Self absorbed.

Kaniela's ambition to raise the minimum wage to meet rent costs would also increase inflation on goods and services to pay for the wages of employees. It would also cause small business owners to close shop, they wouldn't be able to afford to pay for the goods and services meanwhile paying the wages of their employees. It would put a strain on larger employers regarding medical premiums and wages as well. Like I said he's a millennial and believes in socialism....

What's even more retarded than this?  Well he cosponsored and voted for the airport name change in 2016.  That's pretty messed up.

www.capitol.hawaii.gov/Archives/measure_indiv_Archives.aspx?billtype=HCR&billnumber=88&year=2016

Despite his reservations about the late Senator, he does what all democrats do is to go along with the party. He is a millennial and has a socialist mentality. To bring up the allegations at this point is damaging to the families name, perhaps his campaign for Congress & the late Senators legacy.

Kaniela is very young and driven by his ambition to perhaps gain the support of the voters of the "#metoo" movement

Sounds a bit exaggerated.  Maybe a fire hazard but a bomb?

That place was ghetto in a ghetto area.  Went inside the entrance but never saw the actual range.  I think Honolulu firearns may have bought their equipment.  They're expanding their range and have one of the SWAT banners flying outside.

I agree, fire hazard yes....however, upon closure of the facility, isn't there supposed to be an inspection by HPD, HFD and the health department to insure that the facility is CLEAR of brass, loose UN-fired ammunition & overall fire hazards and airborne lead exposure?

Doesn't seem like that was implemented. If Honolulu Firearms personnel did take possession of the equipment at the facility, wouldn't they have seen the debris and entered the facility with some sort of PPE?

Its great that she is putting her experience as an MP officer to good use
How many of us can compare to the weapon knowledge she has in the military?

Tulsi was first commissioned as a 2nd Lt in a medical unit of the HIARNG before she became an MP officer. Her extent of firearms experience as an officer is qualification with the assigned firearm (M9 pistol) on an annual basis. Prior to range qualification everyone attends a PMI (Primary Marksmanship Instruction) class to re-inforce the fundamentals of shooting. Her knowledge of firearms is compartmentalized to the military side of the house. She doesn't publicly shoot or have firearms of her own. I'm sure she has perhaps spoken to legally owned firearm owners in Hawaii that support the 2A. My commentary is opinionated in that she's perhaps is un-informed on what the term "assault" means and "loopholes". Terms that are thrown around the media and distributed by supporters of a firearms BAN.

What we all want is "How do we keep our keiki safe?", "What can we do to protect our firearm rights (2A) with respect to prohibiting ownership to those that are to do us harm?", "What measures can we implement to protect soft target rich environments from an active shooter(s)."

Perhaps everyone that owns a firearm legally will have to bear the burden of the actions of a few that commit crimes of mass proportions.

Oh and btw, there are MP's that BOLO on the range with a rifle (M4) AND a pistol (M9).....just bcuz you're an MP doesn't give you any more knowledge or experience of a firearm than anyone else.

Firearms and Accessories / Insight Technologies M6X

I was looking for a rocker switch for this flashlight/laser combo on the web. Most of the online retailers don't stock this combo or the accessories to go with it. Insight Technologies don't manufacture this anymore. Does anyone in this forum perhaps have a replacement or know how I can get one? Thanks in advance

Or not to register them and keep them on base housing where HPD has no jurisdiction

HPD has "concurrent jurisdiction" with the military police on ALL the bases on Oahu. If there are warrants issued to a service member on a military base HPD/Deputy Sheriff's will serve the warrant, inform the MP's on the base and confiscate firearms surrendered by the service member. State of Hawaii Deputy Sheriff's have the same jurisdiction across the state.

London808 said Puuloa changed their name to KHSC.  Was he wrong about that, too?

I shouldn't try posting when I'm doing 4 other things.   :shaka:

He would be mistaken, The Puuloa training facility is owned and operated by the Marine Corps. The City & County of Honolulu operates the KHSC. There is a civilian shooting club that has access to fire at Puuloa, like the Schofield Barracks Rod & Gun club, that can fire skeet, rifle & pistol. At the Schofield ranges, the club can fire from 12ga, 9mm all the way up to .50BMG
