General Discussion / Re: firearm private sale, notify HPD
« on: July 14, 2021, 01:37:53 PM »
handgun or rifle?
either way seller does not need to be present to transfer
handgun buyer needs to do the PTA first then get the permit, then get the gun, then go back HPD and register.  HPD already has the info from the PTA for specific handgun
rifle buyers needs the PTA first, good for 1 year buy as many rifles as you want.  seller checks the PTA make sure its current, do the sale.  send by mail the transfer with all the appropriate info to HPD about the buyer and info about the firearm.  then buyer goes to register at HPD themself

Actually for both but more concerned about the hand gun transfer.

Thanks

Any current information regarding the process of private sale transfer? Tried calling HPD no answer

Does the seller have to be present for the transfer at hpd?

I heard from someone that the day they picked up their permits for long gun and hand gun HPD allowed them to pick up the firearms at the LGS and return the same day to register them without a appointment.

Would that apply for private sale? Buyer pick up their permits then we do the sale privately not at hpd and he can go back to register them?

Thanks

good information here thanks

I had one question since its been a long time since I've had to register or bought a firearm.

Am selling 1 hand gun and 1 rifle to a close friend. I've gotten mixed answers from other folks that I the seller needed to be with the buyer at HPD for the transfer. Is that correct or so long he has the long gun permit and I follow it up with a Bill of sale/transfer form to HPD am okay and he can go down by himself? the Hand gun I just have to provide the gun information to him when he goes down to apply for the hand gun permit correct? he waits the waiting period and then when he has the hand gun permit I can complete the transfer. According to the information provided earlier I do not need to inform HPD about my hand gun transfer. Is that correct?

Also -if the rifle was originally registered as a Lower only do I need to update my permit before I sell it or he can registered it as a lower or full rifle?

next thing you know they wont be able to find this person in question.
'
apparently he/she hasn't been back to work since the accident happened.  That's almost 3 weeks of sick leave taken i wished i worked for the state and had that much free time to just take off. Also maybe hes talking with a lawyer since he has death threats and all this against him/her he could actually sue the state right? the State shouldnt have pinned it on one person to begin with i think.

yups amazon customer service is pretty good.

even with returns once UPS takes the return and scanned amazon already authorizes the refund to your credit or account. you dont have to wait weeks for it to reach them and get your money back.

You can open a shoe rental business outside the range for all the kanaks.

or you can find some hanging from the telephone poles

Tuesday 7-12-2016
Time arrival 6:30am 7 in line
Registering 2 rifles
Time 7:45 open 25 in line was 7th line
Out 8:32am

Now HPD firearms has a window in front for permit pick ups only. Read the sign on the door and proceed to the window you don't have to wait in line for permit pick ups only.

FAQs / Re: Getting and registering a gun in Hawaii
« on: July 10, 2016, 08:57:00 PM »
the HPD online form  "FIREARMS INFORMATION FORM" the form needed to Register a Long gun/Rifle ? is that correct or is there a form that can only be filled out at the station?

Also - Registering a Stripped lower do you have to provide the Barrel Length and Caliber?  leave the length blank and put Multi-Cal for caliber or blank as well?

Thanks
(already have permit to acquire long gun)

Date: Wed., 7/6/16

6:30 a.m. 6 people in front of me

7:45 a.m. approx. 20 people in back of me.

In at 7:45 a.m.; out at 8:13 a.m.

An officer was pulling people out of line who where there to register firearms. Looks like HPD has changed its registration procedures and is requiring electronic signatures on the permit. The permit is then printed out on an 8.5 X 11" paper.

I heard there's a smart phone app tied to the electronic parking meters for the City. It supposedly allows you to monitor the amount of time left on your meter and add more $. If this is true, it would save some of you from paying an additional "registration fee" of $35. Haven't been able to confirm the existence of this app as of this writing. I heard that info regarding this app may exist in the fireams registration section at HPD.  It would help if someone could confirm this.

when the officer came out to help the line shorten really quick since had alot of permit pick ups only

not sure if that system is still active. i remember hearing about them in downtown and chinatown area but the program failed because people complained vehicles would be parked at the meters all day and owners would feed the meter via Apps. stores in the area didnt like cause customers could never find parking since workers in the area would just park in that stall all day long. kinda defeating the purpose of 2 hour limit parking.

another option is to park at blaisdell i believe its 8 dollars in/out a day its good if you pick up your permit and return the same day to register. saves time looking for parking and peace of mind not worrying about the meter
