General Discussion / Re: Firearms Market Recovery After Covid
« on: July 03, 2020, 05:10:20 PM »
The cost of ammo right now is most disturbing for me.  I have a decent amount and am was planning on shooting more rest of summer and into the fall.  But this second wave is looking to be ramping up here.

380 was cheaper than 9mm so I used that as a opportunity to practice with my little carry guns. A Kahr p380 and a Bersa Thunder 380. Like you I’ve got a supply of stand by ammo and my range ammo. If Range Day is limited to 22LR I’ll still find a way to get some fun and some practice out of it.

We're not going to see stock return to normal until after the election at the earliest.  Add in Covid and BLM riots and your guess is as good as mine.  I traveled to WI in May.  You could still get 5.56 and 9mm from stores but at inflated prices.  I did some quick math and decided that dollar per dollar I could have WAY more fun with 5,000 rounds of 22LR, 12g, and some 50 BMG for what I would have paid for a case each of 9 and 5.56.  (There's not much more fun you can have for $2 than a can of Walmart shaving cream and a 3" 12g slug.)

2a stance? :D

Pro 2a.  As stated by himself at the capital on 2-27-20.

He was introduced to speak to HiFiCo after we sat in on the anti 2a Bills.

It's cute that he tried to defend a taxpayer funded revenue perk for cops that could be accomplished by a orange cone.

That isn't paid by the police department. The construction companies pay for those officers.

I'm well aware how it works. Just because it's baked into the construction bid doesn't mean it isn't being paid by the taxpayer for zero benefit.

You could probably get away with a smaller department if it had better trained and supervised officers.

Start by not pissing away officer time on construction site ass sitting.

I want to be exited but after X-Ring and most AAA video games I'm going to tamp down my enthusiasm.  Don't let us down Prime!

I've got a CMMG .22 conversion kit for my AR and ran through 1025 rounds of Blazer with zero malfunctions.  Conversely in bought a bulk pack of Walmart Winchester M22 and after 150 rounds it had leaded the barrel so badly that I couldn't hit a 8" target at 10 yards.  (normal groups are 5" at 25 yards)

My SR22 pistol will eat anything for 200-400 rounds and then it starts to have extraction problems with the worst so far being Golden Bullets.

My god. Can you imagine having to come home to that every night?

Zippz,

Can you send that info out from the HiFiCo email?  Not all the members are on here and it’s awesome to find out that our efforts are bearing fruit.

Costco’s website lets you order through instacart  now. My old lady has done our last two shopping trips that way. Just pick what you want on the web site and it gets delivered to your door at a time of your choosing. Free delivery over $75. Default tip is 5% but you can put in any amount you feel is appropriate.

Political Discussion / Re: Rally to ReOpen Hawaii May 1st

Is this a joke, or are you seriously this big of a douchebag?

Direjackalope - thank you for the support. I'm not the head of this movement by any means - just one person who cares out of many and I'm sure there will be more rallies planned, but I'm not sure when. Doubt I'll be posting anything about it here, though.

Hasn’t anybody ever told you never to read the comment section?  Some people would complain about free money because it wasn’t clean enough. I like hearing about fellow citizens standing up for all their rights, not just 2a.

Matt, I know a lot of the guys here have been weirdly difficult to you for throwing the event together but I’d like to thank you for showing up and giving a shit and doing something productive instead of just bitching about Hawaii’s problems.

Keep up the good work.

Quokkas and kangaroos have veen known to sacrifice their young to predators so they can escape.

Once she gets serious about carrying a tactical pen and a flip knife instead of just holding her keys between her knuckles like wolverine I'm willing to re-negotiate our tactics.

I always nudge my wife closer to the threat. Not only is it empowering to a strong independent women but it gives me time to decisively react while she’s getting attacked. I believe it’s the same principle as put on your own mask before assisting others.

Firearms and Accessories / Re: What's your AR trigger of choice!
« on: April 27, 2020, 01:27:53 PM »
I picked up a Rise Armament drop in RA-140 Single stage and a LaRue MBT 2 stage.

The Rise is 3.5 lbs. single stage.  It had to be sent back because it would drop the hammer on reset, which I caught in function testing before finding out the hard way. Also it requires anti walk pins or else you have to tighten the internals and increase the trigger weight. The replacement has been just fine and has a nice clean break.

The LaRue is a 2 stage with 2 lbs take up and a 2 lb.Super crisp break. It’s been problem free and I’ve since purchased a 2nd for my old man.

Both were around $90.

The free offer caught Corona and died but they just announced they're doing two more states.  New Hampshire and Nevada.  Should be some pretty cool art.

The real problem with Danger Close Tactical being in a voluntary shut down is that you can't bribe him into a one off transaction with cookies.
