Reloading / Pyrex Replacement Hoppers
« on: September 20, 2020, 11:58:59 AM »
After years of use the powder hopper on my measure is very cloudy.  Replaced the OEM plastic hopper with a Pyrex hopper from Dram Worx:

Great stuff.

Installed the KMS LED on my powder drop along with the dimmer switch and they work great.  KMS ships quickly and they have great customer service.   :shaka:

I ordered an expansion kit - going to install it on my powder measure so that I won't have to shine a flashlight into the cases to check the powder level.

I've been using an LED light from KMS Squared and have been very happy with it.  Only problem is that the lights are a little too bright.  They offer a dimmer switch option now.  You can get 10% off by using the coupon code 'UR10'.

Alicia's Market on Mokauea St is pretty good.  Haven't been there in a while.  A couple of good places in Oahu Market in Chinatown too.

Nosler publishes load data on their website for free:

25gr of H335 is listed as the accuracy load for their 55gr projectile.  Nosler also tells you what the most accurate load is for different powders tested denoted by an asterisk next to the listed charge weight.  This is a good starting point for developing loads for your rifle.

Living a normal life during a power outage that will last a week or more would be difficult with a generator.  If you have a natural gas service you can buy a dual fuel generator or get it converted to run on natural gas.  Running the generator at night can be a problem if you live in a quiet neighborhood.

I have the Tesla Powerwall.  It is expensive, but the tax credits made it worth it.  To make a good decision you really need to get quotes from a couple of reputable installers.
See if Kaleo Arms can ship it for you.  They ship ammo via UPS.

Agree that Tripler would be kind of long walk, but if at Kaiser down the street - no problem.
Heard that Bud Stonebraker is pro 2A - can anyone confirm?

Well at least you'll never have to buy more pins after this.

The Lee factory pin is very good and robust.  Over the years I've decapped many thousands of crimped cases without problem.  I keep the collet nut holding the pin pretty tight since some foreign military brass is crimped pretty good.  There's been a few times that the primer just won't come out and the hardened pin punches thru the primer.  I stick an awl into the hole punched by the pin and pry the primer out.

I bent my Lee decapper last year - I think it was a Berdan case.  I've been trying this hardened decapping pin for a year and so far it's been working out great:

SEC has a good selection of powder.  Roy's Fishing Supply has good prices, but rarely has 8# jugs in stock.

Old manuals are great if you have powder that has been out of production for a while.  You can download old manuals here:
They'll shift their opening time to Noon on Wednesdays to avoid paying OT.
