General Discussion / Re: Mag Ban Incoming
« on: Today at 06:02:19 AM »
Just got m3 AK mags and am very impressed. They feel great in the hand, lock up tight, and the follower smoothly glides through the body. Need to break them in for speed reloads, so hopefully there is another HDF rifle day soon.
Saturday, July 25th is carbine day if I heard and remembered correctly.

Reloading / Re: Hodgdon powder supply
« on: June 30, 2020, 10:05:07 PM »
I have a new source for some reloading supplies on the Internet. He is located in Washington state. He only sells brass and bullets. He has been saying that his distributors are saying the big shortage is going to become a reality around October. This applies to everything. Not just brass and bullets. I am already seeing primers getting tough to find online. Same for certain Hodgdon powders. Varget, H4895, Retumbo, H1000, H335 IMR4895, etc. He said that he is having trouble getting his orders of Xtreme Bullets already. He only got half his last order and the rest is backordered.

I hope it doesn’t get as bad as 2008.
Hey Dave :shaka:

After I read your post I figured I better order a case of 9mm 115 or 124/125 grain bullets . . . SNS Castings no stock . . . Montana Gold no stock . . . Berries no stock . . .  :(
Awesome day! Mahalo Range Day Crew for the safe and fun Range Day as always.
HDF IS BACK!!! Awesome day. I don't care how good or bad I shot, it sure felt good to have the gun go boom after pulling the trigger.
So we have to make online reservations?  ::)

Firearms and Accessories / Re: first pistol purchase

About triggers, my wife got a M&P 9C and that trigger sucks balls. We did a class where everyone had to shoot everyone elses pistol and get hits on steel about 20 yards away.  When it came to using her gun, even very experienced shooters had trouble because they were used to their tuned triggers and not a shitty factory one like the 9C.
I remember that day. I was thinking (to myself), that girl is pretty hot but all her shots are pulling really low. We had a friendly competition at the end of the day where the teams laid their handguns on the firing line and rotated until everyone shot every gun. This was a competition between teams so it was pick up the gun, insert mag and start firing. I think the first three (or all) of my shots went into the dirt IN FRONT of the steel. Yes that trigger sucked.

Also, any representative from HRA able to confirm cancellation of SSF2020 due to new guidelines?
From an HRA representative . . .  "Our Anuual Shooting Sports Fair scheduled in July will regrettably be cancelled due to the current Covid-19 situation"

Political Discussion / Re: Rally to ReOpen Hawaii May 1st

I'm not sure why the need for the derogatory comments directed towards people trying to fight for our constitutional rights.

I know some organizations that have been around for years that can't get more than a handful to the capitol for a rally.  ;)
What was the definition of derogatory?
General Discussion / Re: Honolulu PD permit/reg. by appointment only

Shot in the dark, but does anyone have 3 appts set up for handgun permit to acquire/permit pickup, and registration in mid May, that might want to swap for my three appointments first week of May? I'm ordering a pistol online, but won't make it in time for appt, and would rather not have to schedule till mid June. Thanks
If you are purchasing from a reliable source and can get the serial number, you can apply for the permit to acquire.

Very good story.

We all know of course if that had happened in Hawaii the woman would have been arrested, jailed,
and all guns confiscated.  In this state,  If I had to shoot someone in my home, the first call
I'd make is to my lawyer.  I would not call 911 unless he recommended it.
I would make a dinner resevation.

And one to register, three trips to HPD to purchase a handgun unless private sale and the seller can meet you at HPD.
If you buy from a private seller I guess you still need to make three appointments since the permit pickup window is in a different room that firearm registration window. :(
