I suspect that when bullets are flying at you, you probably find any cover you can without having the ability to give it much thought. Never been shot at though so just a guess.

Sounds like it's based on fire prevention, not necessarily a "guns bad" policy.
There's always been a distinction between "storing gasoline" (as in cans, jugs, barrels, ...) and having gasoline in a vehicle that's designed to use it. Storing gas in a closed room can trap the vapors, causing a fire/explosion hazard. Parking garages are required to vent those fumes as well as exhaust fumes.
Curious to know why any condo would even think about gunpowder when there are so many other flammable items in household use.
So if I were to buy a lower in Hawaii, forget about it / never register it, and move to another state, say Virginia, would I be able to sell it? Would my possession of that lower put me at any legal risk?
Does the building have a no-guns policy?
I lived in various apartments in town for 12 years. Never had a problem.
