General Discussion / Re: Federal Agent Dies at Kihei Police Station

The rifle is on fire but the Army clearing procedure as recently as 2000 was to drop the mag, pull the charging handle, inspect the chamber, and then drop the hammer.  And once the hammers dropped the rifle can't be put on safe.  The trigger is looking pretty far back in the trigger guard.  I can't defend putting your melon in front of the barrel but at least there might be one less screw up than is obvious.

Pre-election prices ... if Trump loses, the value will skyrocket!

If Trump wins, and the civil war 2.0 starts, you'll be glad to have them.

In fact, they’re such a good deal right now it would have been more expensive NOT to buy them.

Gents, I'm looking to take some friends to the range next month.  What are the wait times looking like on the target pistol side?

Doesn’t the pinky extension make it harder to conceal?

So, you didn't go out for pizza?  I heard that was a major violation!

Tip for anyone signing a form nowadays.  With the demise of carbon paper (except for HPD firearms registration forms), it's common now to not get copies of signed forms.  They would have to fill in the blanks on two copies and have you sign both.  That, or have access to a working copier.

Just take a picture of it on your phone after you sign.  This can also be useful for making copies of receipts you might need to submit for reimbursement.

Reading all the news articles about people who got busted and from my own experience I'd say that unless your neighbors rat you out because they saw you come home with luggage or you couldn't resist posting on social media that you were away then the odds of getting caught are about zero.  I take a dim view on strangling the economy so if someone is considering rolling the dice instead of losing two weeks of income or blowing vacation/sick leave then hopefully this can help them make a better informed decision.

Excellent point on the picture.  I was so ready to be done with travelling that I didn't even think about not getting a copy until I my wife was driving me home.

When some of you start getting your orders in it would be interesting to hear what the dates stamped on them are.  I ordered a load of gen 2 Pmags from Palmetto 2 years ago and they were all stamped 2012.
Off Topic / 14 Day Quarantine Experience.

I thought I'd give you guys a little info on what my 14 day quarantine looked like after spending a month on vacation in WI. (And some bonus info on the air travel experience.)

I was away from May 13 to Jun 15.  I flew on Alaska and they had all the middle seats empty both ways.  I had layovers at Sea Tac and both there and the Minneapolis airports were ghost towns.  Maintaining minimum distances was never a problem once we landed.

On the return flight Ag declaration forms were filled out and returned to the flight attendant as usual in addition to a personal information form that we were to turn in upon arrival at Honolulu.

After landing we had our temperature checked by National Guardsmen and were put in line to turn in the personal information forms and sign agreements to self impose quarantine.  The girl taking my information verified my address with my drivers lic. and then called my phone to make sure it was a legit number.  I have no idea what I agreed to in the quarantine form because they never bothered to give me a copy.

The "Sate of Hawaii COVID-19 Quarantine Enforcement Task Force" followed up 5 days later with a text asking if I had been "complying with the mandatory 14-day quarantine rule" and asked to know how I was doing.  Texted back that I was in compliance and was doing fine.  The Task Force responded with a "Mahalo!" the following day.  If there was any other attempts to monitor me I'm unaware of them.

Hope this information was helpful to anyone considering travel.  Cheers!

General Discussion / Re: Firearms Market Recovery After Covid

The cost of ammo right now is most disturbing for me.  I have a decent amount and am was planning on shooting more rest of summer and into the fall.  But this second wave is looking to be ramping up here.

380 was cheaper than 9mm so I used that as a opportunity to practice with my little carry guns. A Kahr p380 and a Bersa Thunder 380. Like you I’ve got a supply of stand by ammo and my range ammo. If Range Day is limited to 22LR I’ll still find a way to get some fun and some practice out of it.

We're not going to see stock return to normal until after the election at the earliest.  Add in Covid and BLM riots and your guess is as good as mine.  I traveled to WI in May.  You could still get 5.56 and 9mm from stores but at inflated prices.  I did some quick math and decided that dollar per dollar I could have WAY more fun with 5,000 rounds of 22LR, 12g, and some 50 BMG for what I would have paid for a case each of 9 and 5.56.  (There's not much more fun you can have for $2 than a can of Walmart shaving cream and a 3" 12g slug.)
2a stance? :D

Pro 2a.  As stated by himself at the capital on 2-27-20.

He was introduced to speak to HiFiCo after we sat in on the anti 2a Bills.
It's cute that he tried to defend a taxpayer funded revenue perk for cops that could be accomplished by a orange cone.
That isn't paid by the police department. The construction companies pay for those officers.

I'm well aware how it works. Just because it's baked into the construction bid doesn't mean it isn't being paid by the taxpayer for zero benefit.
You could probably get away with a smaller department if it had better trained and supervised officers.

Start by not pissing away officer time on construction site ass sitting.

I want to be exited but after X-Ring and most AAA video games I'm going to tamp down my enthusiasm.  Don't let us down Prime!

I've got a CMMG .22 conversion kit for my AR and ran through 1025 rounds of Blazer with zero malfunctions.  Conversely in bought a bulk pack of Walmart Winchester M22 and after 150 rounds it had leaded the barrel so badly that I couldn't hit a 8" target at 10 yards.  (normal groups are 5" at 25 yards)

My SR22 pistol will eat anything for 200-400 rounds and then it starts to have extraction problems with the worst so far being Golden Bullets.

My god. Can you imagine having to come home to that every night?

Can you send that info out from the HiFiCo email?  Not all the members are on here and it’s awesome to find out that our efforts are bearing fruit.

Costco’s website lets you order through instacart  now. My old lady has done our last two shopping trips that way. Just pick what you want on the web site and it gets delivered to your door at a time of your choosing. Free delivery over $75. Default tip is 5% but you can put in any amount you feel is appropriate.
