Bushido Arms and Ammunition LLC / Ammo by the Pound
« on: January 23, 2020, 11:20:34 PM »

Unfortunately the new county ban on single use plastics DOES affect more than food service. In response, I’m discontinuing the plastic boxes use to package our reloaded ammunition (once they are used up). Good news is the creation of our new AMMO BY THE POUND program.

Here are the details:
-4 calibers available: 9mm Luger, 45 ACP, .223 Remington, .308 Winchester. (38 Special coming soon)
-Bring your own container, box, or ammo can. Must meet requirements set by HRS134. Approved containers will be available to purchase if needed.
-Customers can scoop as much or as little as they wish. Ammo will then be weighed and charged accordingly.

Price list:
9mm Luger 115gr. FMJ or CP = $9 per pound. Appx. 40 rounds ($0.22/round)

45 ACP 230gr. FMJ or CP = $9 per pound. Appx. 22 rounds ($0.41/round)

.223 Remington 55gr. FMJBT = $14 per pound. Appx. 40 rounds ($0.35/round)

.308 Winchester 147gr. FMJBT = $14 per pound. Appx. 20 rounds ($0.70/round)

Contact us for an appointment or swing by the pop up shop grand opening on Saturday February 1 from 9am to 12noon.

I'd pay $3 per student per hour.  I usualy teach up to 4 to 6 students at a time for a 6 hour class +1 hour setup so about $80 to $120 for a day.
Thanks! That’s the kind of information I was looking for.

I presume you are talking about classroom only?
Then use khsc for the live fire portion.

Yes. The idea is that instructors can have a place to teach the classroom portion, and then head up the road to KHSC. No 1 instructor can generate enough business to make leasing a place feasible. But if a number of instructors use it even once a month, then the cost of an office becomes more manageable.

I'm not an instructor, but basic specs on the facility might help instructors answer that question.  Details that might help could be:

- How many students can it accommodate per class?
- Is there ample free parking?
- Are classroom-appropriate furnishings provided, such as tables & chairs, AV equipment, and so on?
- is it air conditioned?
- Are there restroom facilities onsite?

I'm not saying these are critical or even major factors, but if someone is being asked to name a price they are willing to pay, I think the space needs to be described in more detail than "VERY close to KHSC", in particular the number of students who can attend and cover that cost.

Hope that's helpful.

Here’s my response in FB:

If there’s enough interest by other instructors, the place would have a common area with 2-3 private rooms. So that’s means 2-3 Instructors can teach their classes at the same time.

Each room would have a table with chairs, whiteboard, and monitor with HDMI input. Place would be open during range schedules (since you need to do range time after), Wednesday to Sunday.

To reserve a spot, I’m thinking that you can book up to a month ahead by calling the office to check availability.

Question(s) for NRA Instructors.

If there was a place available to teach your certification class, that was VERY close to KHSC, would you use the facilities? If so, how much would you be willing to pay per session? Please give the maximum you’d be willing to pay. And remember that you’d be using the classroom for at least 4 hours.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't know anything about cleaning brass.  When you say dusty does that mean the kind of brass I fire at the range and pick it up right away?  So no need buy the special machine to clean it.

Correct. Picked up brass is fine. No need to clean. It just can't be dug out of the dirt or mud.
As of 7/30/2019, we are currently looking for 9mm Luger brass cases. Purchasing up to 220lbs. Call 808-219-9990 and leave a message if you have brass to turn in. Thanks.

Ok gang. Here's the details for the Cash for Cases Program.

1. Cases must be separated since we will be buying specific calibers needed.
2. Commercial once fired brass only. No military brass accepted.
3. Brass can be dusty but not caked in dirt or mud. Also, they cannot be wet.
4. Checks or Store Credit will be given. Store Credit will include a +10% bonus.
5. Individuals must present a valid ID
6. Checks will be written to the individual turning in the cases in person.
7. Checks may be deposited or cashed immediately. Checks will not be written to "CASH".
8. Credit may be used for in stock items (ammunition, bullets, powder, primer, firearms, parts and accessories, etc.). No special order items.

Update: Forgot to add that we reserve the right to refuse the brass for any reason.

Aloha Everyone,

Thank you all for your continued support of Bushido Arms & Ammunition. We've had a lot of success with our remanufactured ammunition and our reloading program. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances we are losing a major avenue for our brass supplies.

We have thought about this and have decided to institute a Cash for Cases program. We will pay $1.50 per pound of reloadable brass cases. A current list of what we are buying, and program details, will be posted soon. If you save your cases but don't reload, or if you just have too much, bring them by and we'll pay you for your unwanted brass.

Thank you all for your assistance. Shoot straight, shoot safe.

Great bullet selection for your ammo!  I use Berger 155 hybrids in mine, probably too hot for most rifles. It would most likely render the brass useless after a one time firing in a factory chamber. Lol    What's the velocity look like?  Should be an awesome shooter.

They were tight. Appx 2850fps average from bolt action 20”  and just over 2830fps in 18” semi-auto. However, the semi-auto cold bore shots were closer to 2810fps. They got hotter as the barrel heated up (I didn’t wait for the barrel to cool down between shots)
