Firearms and Accessories / Re: Glock 19 is obsolete
« on: March 04, 2021, 05:37:36 PM »
I’ve run through a few handguns over the years.  Started with Glock and expanded out to S&W, Sig, HK and CZ.  Found I liked my CZs best (Shadow 2, SP-01, P-01), but I went back to the Glock 19 as my go to for basically one reason.  Shtf, I feel parts will be more common.  Other than that, CZ all day for me.

General Discussion / Re: Handgun Classes Available?

There are a few folks on here who conduct classes.  Maybe one of them will chime in.  If that fails, DM me and I can put you in touch with folks that do smaller classes, even individuals.

Before switching to red dots, I had the i-dot on my Glock and liked it better than my trijicon hd sights that I had on a previous Glock I owned.

With iron sights on handguns, my personal preference would be straight eight sights.

I use the Trijicon RM-06 and like it.  That being said, I’m also a fan of the Holosun offerings now and they have been testing well.  I’m going to be purchasing another mrds in the future and am actually considering Holosun over Trijicon even though price isn’t a factor.  There are a lot of guys I know that shoot extensively that have opted for Holosun over Trijicon and price is definitely not a factor for them.
Temp screening was literally a few minutes for me last week.  I’d say 2-3 minutes.
From my experience on the weekends, they release one appointment every 10 minutes on the :00, :10, :20, :30 etc... for 90ish days in the future. I believe if someone takes a 30 minute slot, no appointment released for 30 minutes. I have only looked on weekends, can't look during the week because of work.

Thanks!  I lucked out and caught an appointment tomorrow
Anyone know what time HPD usually posts up appointments 90 days out?
General Discussion / Re: Honolulu PD permit/reg. by appointment only

The only thing you can "walk in" for is to pick up your permit to aquire. To apply for permit or to register firearms you need an appointment. Right now they are accepting expired permits because they recognize the problem with the appointment system. Trying to get a registration appointment before your permits expire is very difficult. All three of of my pistol permits will be expired when I go in for my register firearms appointment on Aug 6.

As for the appointments that's how they have been dropping. They go quick, for both registration and permit to aquire.

Got it, thanks  :shaka:

"Not sure if I’m checking the wrong area, but I see nothing available for both the main station and Kapolei.  Not sure how this can be legal..."

If there is nothing. It's booked out 3 months. They don't release anything further then that. But cancellations do pop back up if there are any but you have to be quick to scoop those :shaka:

I’m actually good on guns now but was just curious, so I checked.  So how does it go?  Every morning, time slots 90 days out pop up on their site?  If there’s a cancellation with only one slot available and someone is trying to register a handgun, can they walk in two weeks later and then after that to register the handgun?

Thanks for the input all!
Try ask Wayne. Maybe he can save it. I’ve heard folks say that they have drilled out the weld and pin and reused the device, but that wasn’t my experience.

Sounds good, thanks!  :shaka:
