Health, Fitness, and First Aid / Re: Free Stop the Bleed classes through June 2026
« Last post by zippz on April 29, 2026, 01:55:57 PM »
I attended the Stop the Bleed class today. It was on the top floor conference center of the Honolulu Airport Interisland parking lot. I didn't know that place existed. Class was free and 1 1/2hrs long going over tournaquets, direct pressure, and wound packing. It's a good refresher for those that did it in the military, LE, or took a medical class before. For people that never did it before, they learned a lot and enough to take care of the problem if its thrown at them. There were a dozen students in the class who appeared to be just regular people and a few teachers. I took this as a prerequisite to be a stop the bleed instructor for the red cross.
Prior to this, they held their free CPR class and the classroom was packed full. I thought a lot of them would stay over for the stop the bleed, but they all left. Guess they just needed it for work.

Not applicable to HI, but generally a good sign.

1) Repeal Biden's pistol brace rule
2) Revising "engaged in the business" rule
3) Revising machine gun definition in response to Cargill decision
4) Remove requirement for FFLs to post info about Youth Handgun Safety Act
5) Revising 4473 form, including allowing electronic forms and increase the time NICS checks remain valid
6) Allow FFLs to keep electronic records
7) Replace indefinite retention of 4473s with definite time periods of 20 or 30 years
8)Allow “Non-Over-the-Counter” firearm sales by FFLs to residents of the same state
9) Repeal interstate NFA transport notice requirement for trips under 365 days, with all others no longer requiring approval before transport
10) Joint NFA registration for married couples
11) Remove NFA CLEO notification
12) Clarify that "common, reasonably necessary activities during travel" are covered by FOPA transportation protection
13) Allow import of dual-use frames, receivers, and barrels
14) Clarify that "training rounds" are not ammunition
15) Eliminate engraving requirement for people making NFA firearms out of existing serialized guns
16) "Clarify that a person receiving assistance in only one functional area (such as financial management) would not, on that basis alone, be considered prohibited" under mental health disqualifier
17) Requiring biological sex on ATF Forms
18) Clarify when a transaction is a straw purchase
19) Formally define "willfully" for firearms violations
20) "Remove the list of former Soviet countries from which ATF currently denies applications to permanently import most firearms and ammunition, retaining only the Russian Federation"

seems like Aero's problems are dragging down VG6 also.  Similarly, VG6 muzzle devices "out-of-stock" everywhere.

But Ballistic Advantage (just the barrels) seems to still be alive and well.

I have a VG6 and shot an AR with a regular bird cage flash hider.  With my current skill level and body structure, I couldn't tell the difference in recoil when shooting fast.  I never shot slow with either side by side.  So IMO, the VG6 although on paper and youtube comparisions work very well, I wouldn't spend the money to buy one, but would instead stick with the cheap bird cage.

More classes coming up:

Pistol Fundamentals and Performance 2-Day Course (irons or dots acceptable) / Kailua-Kona, HI / August 11-12, 2026
$800.00

Red Dot Pistol: Fundamentals and Performance 2-Day Course / Lahaina, HI / August 8-9, 2026 / Ukumehame Firing Range
$800.00

Somebody is confident Ukumehame will be open again by August. That's a good sign.

https://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2026/04/29/feds-decriminalize-medical-marijuana/

How long until the BATFE and states change the rules for transferring and owning firearms?

ATF Form 4473, 21(f.):
Quote
Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?
Warning: The use or possession of marijuana remains unlawful under Federal law regardless of whether it has been legalized or decriminalized
for medicinal or recreational purposes in the state where you reside.

The news article says the feds decriminalized medical marijuana, not all uses.  So, I guess it's still possible to be "an unlawful user" without a Medical Marijuana prescription.  But, it would eliminate having to choose between legally owning guns or legally being prescribed MM.  Baby steps ...

Char Siu and Kau Yuk can do without the red.

What about Li Hing Mui?  I've seen the whitish one and it looks funny.

The UK bans this because they have a system of " we will ban it until you prove it's safe".  Think opposite of innocent until proven guilty.  And no company has put the effort to do so, or maybe they did and can't prove it's safe. Then kept it hush hush so it doesn't affect the USA market.
