Police and NRA sue California City over magazine restrictions

Saw this release from the NRA about a suit they are supporting in California. The "problem" is that the police only received an exemption from the 10 round limit if the magazines were issued by the department. If they are personally owned, they are illegal.

It appears these cities snuck a limited police exemption into the law to appease law enforcement, but police officials didn’t realize that the law effectively strips them of their personally-owned magazines.

Now, I am definitely not a "cop basher" nor am I supportive of magazine limits, but why is the NRA spending limited financial resources to secure protections for police against this law and not trying to get it repealed completely? Especially, when it seems the police supported the measure to limit magazine capacity when they thought they were going to be exempt? This kinda reminds me of the push to pass the LEOSA act, when law enforcement agencies who wanted it promised to help us "regular citizens" to secure more broad concealed carry rights once they got LEOSA passed. What's good for the goose should be good for the gander.....

Here is what I wrote to the NRA/ILA:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I just read your ILA release about the NRA suit in San Francisco and Sunnyvale relating to police not getting an exemption to the 10 round limit for magazines they personally own.

I have to wonder why, when there are so many well deserving legal suits that could use your legal expertise and funding that you choose to expend valuable and limited financial resources on this one. The police agencies SUPPORTED this measure because they thought they were getting an exemption that every other law abiding citizen would not enjoy.

The police should have to live under the very same rules as the rest of us, especially if they supported efforts to deprive "us" of those rights.

I look forward to hearing from you on this matter.

Thank you.
