Three new laws; Calfornia, Seattle (Gun Violence Tax) and Texas

You can check out this link.  Local lawmakers stifling the 2nd amendment by enacting local laws.  I know it can be challenging to come up with a viable plan...but a tax?  Seems like a law that was intended to show that "something" was to justify their existence. What next a "vehicle violence tax?", maybe Hawaii will add it on as a consumable tax to our gas...they'll slip it in while the cost of gas is relatively low...a gallon of gas could got down to 5 cents a gallon and it would still be kept up above $2.00 a gallon...Taxes.  Remember elections coming up.    ;)

I still believe that the WA law will be overturned due to the SCOTUS ruling in Murdock v Pennsylvania { 319 US 105 } that clearly states a right, granted us in the Constitution, cannot be taxed.

The CA law is blatantly unconstitutional as a person is considered "Guilty" based on hearsay evidence outside of a court of law. This law was specifically written to be abused.

Be ready to respond to what is shaping up to be a volatile year for our gun rights in our legislature.

There is little doubt in my mind that we'll see an unprecedented number of anti gun bills and regulations introduced this year.

i would not be surprised at all to see these exact same types of bills this legislative session as this is the last year available for our politicians to suck up to the Golden Child

Don't we already have this law in Hawaii?

Quote from: Hawaii Revised Statutes §134-7(f)
No person who has been restrained pursuant to an order of any court, including an ex parte order as provided in this subsection, from contacting, threatening, or physically abusing any person, shall possess, control, or transfer ownership of any firearm or ammunition therefor, so long as the protective order, restraining order, or any extension is in effect...

An excellent point. Here, the law requires you to turn in all firearms if you are subject to a TRO.

I believe the difference in the CA law is that a TRO can be initiated against you simply because you have firearms and someone feels you may be a danger.

In either case, TRO laws are one of the most abused in the system, and also one of the most useless. If the subject doesn't give shit about going to jail for beating the shit out of his girlfriend, or family member, the fact they are also violating a restraining order isn't going to be any kind of deterrent. The record is pretty clear, in fact, a TRO may actually make the situation worse by enraging the potentially violent party.

A piece of paper isn't going to stop someone with violent intent.

Better to be prepared to defend yourself, by whatever means.

Update from acquaintance now living in WA:  "the tax is just a city tax like if you bought a gun in Honolulu but could go to Kailua and not pay the tax....its a joke"

So I presume you could have factions / counties within the state of Washington at odds regarding their stance on gun ownership.  However, this really could be a money grab by Seattle knowing that the number of gun purchases are escalating so why not tax a gun purchases...it's a "cash cow".  Depending on nuances (if tax applied on registration guns purchased in neighboring counties or states and how it's managed) you could have neighboring counties / states become attractive venues for gun and ammo sales.  Taking a more commercial position maybe be some enterprising soul would run a junket like the gambling junkets from Utah to Nevada.   Provide everything a complete junket package...proper paperwork, training, etc.

How else are they suppose to afford their $15 dollars per hour minimum wage for city/county jobs in Seattle. What a CROC.
