On Saturday I took the NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home Instructor course and passed.  I had to drive 2 hours into Rhode Island into a backwoods range.  Class was taught by an old retired LE guy.  The PPITH course is the next step up from the NRA Basic Pistol that most of us do, and is a prerequisite for the Personal Protection Outside the Home course which is geared toward CCW.  The class is pretty basic in teaching how to use a gun for protection inside your house and the legalities.  The shooting drills were basic stuff shooting from the ready positions from about 3 to 7 yards, a room size distance, and consiusted of controlled pairs, react to a knife drills, point shooting, and reloads.

On Sunday I visted the town of York, Maine which is a coastal tourist place.  Most of the shops were closed until the summer season.  I got a Lobster roll (still disappointed I didn't get a McLobster) and seafood casserole from the Lobster Cove which tasted awesome.  Then I hiked up Mount Agamenticus which goes up to a staggering 692 feet high.

Congratulations on passing all of those courses!  Damn, that must have been a tiring two weeks!  I've only gone through two separate two-day courses and even after that I was pretty burnt.

First time I did the bolt override malfunction in a rifle course, we each set up the malfunction in our own guns and apparently, I set up a "good" one in mine.  I found out what the "good" meant.  I thought I was going to break something trying to get the bolt toward the rear.  We didn't try that one handed, but I can see how that would be an interesting challenge.

Thank you again for sharing your experiences!  Makes me want to get back into training classes again.  One of my good buddies lives in VT.  Would be a good excuse to head out that way to visit!   ;D

I met with the Steve, the Clark County Shooting Complex Program Administrator, and Don, President of the Nevada Firearms Coalition (their equivalent of the HRA) to get advice and guidance on our initiatives on improving KHSC and other 2a projects (CCW, etc).  I'll post what I learned in the KHSC Petition thread.

That's the last of my objectives for this 2 1/2 week trip on the East and West coasts and putting about 2,500 miles on my rental cars and completing 6 out of 7 objectives with an elusive McLobster.  And gaining 4 pounds.  I'll be finishing up my reviews and I will be visiting the Oaktree Range in Valencia, CA this weekend.  Supposed to be like a fun shooting amusement park range and was recommended by Don and Steve.  Should give me some insights of what is possible with a range.
