This is an excellent example of why people should carry whenever they go out -- without exception.

People were quoted saying they didn't EXPECT to have to worry about something like this in broad daylight in the middle of the campus.

Anti-gunners like to say how "unlikely" it is for you to need a gun, particularly in this situation or that environment.

You carry because of the UNEXPECTED.  If these things happened only when and where we expected them, it would be simple to assign security guards and police to be on those scenes at those times.

Train for the most likely scenarios, but carry for those you can't imagine.

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

I like see a strict permitting process, equal to acquiring a gun, in order to buy a motor vehicle.  Then see how well that goes with the general public.  14 day wait period, background check, all to make sure said purchaser is not going to use that vehicle to commit a crime.
