0700 Saturday 28 January 2012 will be a High Power Rifle 800 AGG Practice Match.  An 800 point aggregate course is 2 sighters and 20 rounds standing position and 2 sighters and 2 stages of 10 rounds rapidfire sitting position at 200 yards. 2 sighters and 2 stages 10 rounds prone at 300 yards and 2 sighters and 20 rounds slowfire prone at 600yards.  88 rounds total count for the course, but bring 100 in case re-fires are needed for the rapid fire stages. NRA Highpower Rifle Rules 3.1 thru 3.5 will govern Service or Match Rifle with Metallic Sights only. Only rifles chambered in 5.56 mm (.223), 7.62 mm (308 and 30-06), 260 Remington, 6.5x47 Lapua, 6x47 Lapua, 6.5 Grendel, 6mm BR, 6XC and 6mmAR are permitted. Registration will be at 0645 and the entire course of fire and clean up should finish by 1700.
0700 Sunday 29 January 2012 there will be  Service Rifle Practice Match. 10 rounds slowfire standing position in 10 minutes and 10 rounds rapidfire sitting position in 60 seconds at 200 yards. 10 rounds rapidfire prone at 300 yards in 70 seconds. And 20 rounds slowfire prone at 600 yards in 20 minutes. It will be 500 points possible with 50 rounds for record.

I thought you could use pretty much any centerfire caliber smaller than .30 as a match rifle, and isn't there a category for "foreign service rifles", too?  I shot an SKS a couple of times just 'cause the ammo is cheap, but our range (on the Big Island) only goes out to 200yds; the only time I shot at 600, I used a Garand (with M2 ball, and won, but that another story.....)

The rules for ammunition are put in place by the rifle range at Puuloa.  Since the range faces towards the ocean there is a clear zone out to sea.  Rounds are trapped by a berm, but stray rounds just might fly over and they don't want any rounds overshooting the safety area out at sea.  something like that.

The Saturday practice started off slow due to the need to find and reface our targets. Weather started off overcast with light winds 4-5mph and later became sunny with winds gusting to 15mph. 15 shooters attended, 11 clubmembers and 4 non-members.
