I just got back from Molokai. The company that owns Molokai Ranch is now trying to sell. The asking price is 200 million.
Let me ask my wife if I can buy it.

I was talking to.some.gun guys on Maui.  They said hunting deer is important to them.  However the deer are hurting the farmers by eating the crops.  It's hard to fence them out since deer can jump over 6 feet high and can break through standard fence.  The deer are also reproducing very fast and expanding out of control.
All they have to fo is let people hunt them.  Maybe lift some of the super strict hunting rules and regs.

Could be the regs or need to open up more hunting lands.  Also private property owners need to let people hunt on their lands.

Was wondering if Hawaii allows giving game meat away to feed the poor.

This chart shows who owns at least a thousand acres or more on Molokai.  A lot of the the locals I grew up with on Molokai feel they have a right to hunt deer and other game on large landowner properties.  They don't consider it poaching.  They call it “gathering” food for the table. :D. Maybe that’s why deer is not a problem on Molokai.  Hunters keep them under control.  FWIW, a breeding pair can increase to as much as 30 in five years.  Compare that to feral pigs.  A breeding pair can increase to 200,000 in 5 years.
