Public land parking Situation
« on: October 06, 2021, 04:08:06 PM »
I know while hunting on public land, parking is supposed to be figured out by the hunter, but does anyone know of any of the public hunting lands that have parking somewhat nearby?

Anyone have any suggestions/ tips on hog hunting? Like using  call, scent away, a ground blind, best to hunt mornin/ afternoon/ evening,  etc?

I have no idea where to park, but to access one hunting area (Hunting Vehicle Access Permit for Ewa Forest Reserve: Poamoho Section), you need to apply for a parking permit. Just look for the link to the application form on this page (Oahu paragraph):

The other areas have pdf maps which you can access from this page:

If I were to plan to go to the Waimano area (UnitC_Waimano) I would try to get as close to their check-in stations to familiarize myself with the region before hunting season begins. Aumukua St may or may not work. I am a hunting noob, so take my advice with a grain of Macadamia nut.  ::)

Hunting wild pigs the native way is not easy. You might want to hire a guide your first time. He will use hounds.

As I am still in the process of registering my weapons, I will suggest talking to other gun owners outside of HPD. Someone on the waiting line will have much more knowledge about hunting on Oahu than me. I have not even mastered the compound bow yet, or climbing tree stands.
