You are overthinking my example too much

Welcome to our world.

Some years ago, a crackhead was yelling that he was on fire. I saw no flames nor smoke. Prob on bath salts, but should I believe him and get a fire extinguisher?

Perhaps I am more optimistic than you but I don't think our news media has degraded to crackhead level yet,

Which is worse, the crackhead constantly saying stuff that's obviously not true or the people who actually believe him?
If you allow government to break the law for an "emergency" they will create "emergencies" to break the law.

You're right.

CrAcKhEaDs are operating with less-than-optimal cognition and reasoning.  They often lack the mens rhea to understand what they are doing -- right, wrong or indifferent.

The Main Stream Media is just pure evil, spouting off propaganda, lies, misinformation, fake news and opinions as if it's real news.  CNN is the biggest offender, and all the others vie for a close second.

CNN admits that's what they have been doing, now that they have a new Captain at the wheel:

Quote
The new president of CNN is expected to bring back the cable news giant’s “hard news”
emphasis while steering away from opinion and commentary, according to a report.

Chris Licht, the CBS executive who was lured away from the network and hired to replace
Jeff Zucker as the new boss at CNN, believes that the network made a mistake by having
its on-air talent freely give their opinions during news segments.

The worst part is while CNN was "fact-checking" FOX News, Trump and anyone else who called out their fake news tactics, almost nobody was fact-checking CNN as they pretended to report the news instead of being upfront that most of their reports were opinion, commentary and unverified information.

Do I think they will turn their sinking ship around and make the needed repairs?  Doubtful.  It's difficult and time-consuming to change a massive corporation's culture after decades of decline.  If the CEO does what CEOs do, he'll be torn between fixing the product and making money off their relatively few remaining loyal customers.
The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

As a son of two journalists I am probably inclined to defend the institution of journalism but I still don't think journalism is on life support. Trust in the big media companies is justifiably low but I don't think we should let it sour us on journalism itself

Thats like a waiter or former waiter saying a 20% tip is minimum, regardless of service received.  All while non food service people say otherwise.

Was the HPD troll defending urinalysts?

Well of course, who else defends the liberal narrative so fervently as the paid presstitutes.

Show me where anyone here said "journalism is on life support."

You sure do have a crazy imagination -- arguing against things that only exist in your mind.

Journalism "itself" still exists in small niches, like Veritas.  They are actually doing the job big media used to do -- uncovering corruption and malfeasance as it pertains to the common good of our society.  Journalism isn't about clicks, revenue and party loyalty, but that's all the MSM for the most part seems to care about.

Why would the new CNN CEO announce they will be less opinionated in their shows?  Surely it isn't because they are too opinionated now, is it?  CNN has been about pushing Dem narratives and destroying the truth when it hurts them or helps the GOP.

Journalism isn't dead.  It's suffering from an acute case of jaundice.
