Pilgrimage to NRAAM 2022 and Rangemaster Instructor Course (Read 742 times)

I will be doing my annual pilgrimage to attend the NRA Annual Meeting again in Houston, TX May 27-29 and the Rangemaster course  June 2-6.  Leaving this Wednesday with a group of 9 representing Hawaii to attend NRAAM.  Going to meet all the other attorneys and supporters that helped with our Hawaii lawsuits there and President Trump will be attending the show.  NRAAM is NRA's annual event with 50,000 members attending.  There's an expo with exhibitors like a smaller version of Shot Show, still almost double the size of our convention center.  Celebrities, workshops, classes, concerts, and lots of things to do.

Rangemaster is a top tier firearms school with an exceptional instructor development program taught by Tom Givens.  I signed up for the basic and advanced courses.  Half of it is classroom learning about course development and teaching.  The other half is on the range shooting 1,600 rounds over the 5 days.  It's going to be long hot days with homework at night, so it'll be a bit rough.  I am under prepared for this course as I haven't been shooting much in the past few years, too busy saving the 2nd Amendment.  This year  I've done a few open shoots, taught a couple classes, shot a couple steel shoots and USPSA matches.  Still far from my peak though.  Going to do some practice in Houston before the class.  I'm using my Glock 22 40S&W for the class with a Glock 48 9mm as a backup/CCW gun.   Usually you want both guns to be the same caliber.  If my Glock 22 breaks then I'm stuck with a lot of 40S&W I can't bring home.  But it's my duty gun so I'll take the chance.

For those wondering how to get bulk ammunition on the mainland for classes and competitions, I ordered through ammoman.com.  I checked with the hotel and submitted my order last Thursday and it was shipped on Friday.  Ammo should be delivered to the hotel on Tuesday.  I expect to get some funny looks from the concierge on why three small boxes weigh a hundred pounds.  Ammoman was cheap and fast.  In the past I ordered from MidwayUSA which is also fast and reliable, but costs a little more.
