Nuclear Fusion Breakthrough

As best as I could understand, essentially they applied the principal of a survival fire piston to atomic material at cryogenic temperatures and were able to create a reaction that generates more energy than it consumes.

I keep waiting for the hydrogen fuel cell cars to reenter the market, but apparently the initial market test demonstrated it's not turn-key ready.  CA is still the only state with hydrogen fuel cell stations to replenish them, mainly around San Francisco.

It would be a major win for Hawaii if fusion power plants were able to replace our current power plants.  But, given the initial cost, I see this going down the way rail and every other state-sponsored debacle has.

Only 20, or is it 30 years away, same as it has been since the 50's.

Fusion will probably never via viable in our lifetime.  This might stand a chance in the market:  https://www.foxnews.com/tech/u-s-approves-first-small-modular-nuclear-reactor-design
