How do we improve the gun culture and gun community in Hawaii?
« on: January 18, 2013, 12:43:15 PM »
Aloha everyone,

I wanted to pose a question to the community.  What can we do to improve the gun culture here in Hawaii.  Our gun culture here in Hawaii is not like those of other states like Texas.  I am a big advocate on education and I believe this may be one of the things that will remove the negative stigma surrounding guns and gun owners.

We have 1 public outdoor range located in Kokohead Crater, 1 indoor range in Honolulu and hopefully soon 1 indoor range in Waipahu for those of us closer to the leeward side of the island.  It seems like even competition shooting receives no recognition.  But improving the outlook and turnout on firearms it will help benefit the quality of life for current firearm owners in Hawaii.

Aloha everyone and have a good weeked,
-Manaspark

Welcome to the site and thanks for your interest in firearms in hawaii.
Not sure if your familiar, but the moderator made a thread topic for each bill that is stickied and automatically updated everytime someone posts in it.  That way there is less clutter and easier to read through for all involved.

Also there was a proposal for a range in barbers point.  Dont know the status of that, but there was talk of it.

a simple one is to put competition scores on the newspaper sports page, and cover them in the news like how golf, marathon, etc are covered.  Gun clubs could request news coverage or write their own storys for the media.

Open and concealed carry bills have been introduced every legislative session for several years now. They never get anywhere.....
