Was listening and watching the breaking news of the Maui wildfire today.  Chief Pelletier said to please respect the constitution of the state of Nevada.

Before he realized that he is now the chief of police for Maui.  And that he meant the constitution of the state of Hawaii.

Guess he still thinks he heads the police back in Nevada even though he's been chief of Maui police department since at least end of 2021.

Nomo focus.  Or maybe just tired.

The same guy tasked with the coverup of the 2017 Las Vegas shooting is now in charge of covering up the wildfires our government caused.

Even the mainstream media is still scratching their head on how we were never given answers to basic questions about the worst mass shooting history, and apparently Chief Knucklehead is still using the same playbook for the worst fire in modern US history.

Yep.

He dusted off his media response index cards and forgot to change "Nevada' to "Hawaii."

Simple mistake for a figurehead.

When terrible things seem to happen wherever you go, is okay for people to ask you to move away?

He's been reassigned. Hopefully somewhere that doesn't involve critical infrastructure.

This government is awful.

On the bright side I just got inspired to finally install that catchment system so that there's something to spray if the haole haters decide to cut off my water access in an emergency.

This is how Democrats dole out accountability:  "reassigned" versus "sacked."

I can only imagine how much of the "equity" talk was fake and only intended to preserve his job in the wake of eventual incompetence no matter how it manifested.

So the AFT is on Maui to help too.

$20 says they're at MPD getting the registrations for all guns in the affected areas. And MPD is willingly handing over said info.

§134-7.2  Prohibition against seizure of firearms or ammunition during emergency or disaster; suspension of permit or license.  (a)  Notwithstanding any provision of chapter 127A or any other law to the contrary, no person or government entity shall seize or confiscate, under any emergency or disaster relief powers or functions conferred, or during any emergency period, as defined in section 127A-2, or during any time of national emergency or crisis, as defined in section 134-34, any firearm or ammunition from any individual who is lawfully permitted to carry or possess the firearm or ammunition under part I of this chapter and who carries, possesses, or uses the firearm or ammunition in a lawful manner and in accordance with the criminal laws of this State.

     (b)  Notwithstanding any provision of chapter 127A or any other law to the contrary, no person or government entity shall suspend, revoke, or limit, under any emergency or disaster relief powers or functions conferred, any lawfully acquired and maintained permit or license obtained under and in accordance with part I of this chapter.

     (c)  For purposes of this section, "government entity" means any unit of government in this State, including the State and any county or combination of counties, department, agency, institution, board, commission, district, council, bureau, office, governing authority, or other instrumentality of state or county government, or corporation or other establishment owned, operated, or managed by or on behalf of this State or any county. [L 2010, c 96, §1; am L 2014, c 111, §7]

Looks like that part of Hawaii law can't stop Feds from doing what they want, but if the state assists them by providing lists of owners, they are breaking the law.  Assisting the AFT would make the state an active participant in whatever the Feds do with that information.

No firearm registrations should be given to the Federal Agents without a warrant related to a criminal investigation.  Any other purpose would be against federal statute.  But then, according to the text of FOPA 1986, the State has been violating this for decades.
Quote
No such rule or regulation prescribed [by the Attorney General] after the date
of the enactment of the Firearms Owners Protection Act may require that records
required to be maintained under this chapter or any portion of the contents of such
records, be recorded at or transferred to a facility owned, managed, or controlled
by the United States or any State or any political subdivision thereof, nor that any
system of registration of firearms, firearms owners, or firearms transactions or
disposition be established. Nothing in this section expands or restricts the Secretary's
authority to inquire into the disposition of any firearm in the course of a criminal investigation.

Do u think MPD will tell the feds no if asked for info on locations of firearms?
