Nope. And I think SB69 making it a new requirement is furthering the erosion of our privacy and treating us like a criminal.

Thanks for writing and sharing your letter to Rep Thielen by the way.
I think, therefore I am armed.

Has anyone been photographed as part of the application process for a Permit to Acquire?

I bought a shotgun in 2005, and my long gun permit had my photo HPD took attached to it.  I renewed that permit in Dec 2012 along with 2 new pistol permits, and no photo was taken or attached to any new permits.

Looks like they stopped requiring the photos.  My guess is it's already in their system, so they no longer need the paper photo.  Maybe they have access to the DMV records and just cross reference to that picture?

Just because the photo isn't on the paper permit does not mean they don't need it in digital form for the background check.

There's enough info on the permit to match up a Hawaii State Driver's License which has your photo, so the picture attached to a permit is superfluous.  (I try to use the word "superfluous" at least weekly ... our current gun control debate offers daily opportunities!)

In Hilo, every permit has your photo on it.  sometimes even in color.  When you first apply and get fingerprinted, they take your photo and fingerprints with the fancy machine.  Then, every time you do a permit (long gun or hand gun) it has your pciture.
It is what it is.

It's starting to sound like Honolulu PD has new, improved digital processes, and Hawaii County hasn't been upgraded ... just speculating!
