all the airguns I would want to get cost 2k-3k+ and at that rate, why not just get a Remington 700 with a decent scope?

Because you cannot shoot the remmy 700 in your backyard & it would be like shooting a mosquito with a 308

There are some >$1k airguns I would love to have, but to what purpose?

My current collection got started during the great ammo shortage era.  Got a bit out of hand.

Benjamin Trail NP XL .22, rated @ 1100 fps
my first Nitro piston airgun
its pretty quiet compared to a spring piston
cocking effort is easy
but the gun itself is nearly 10 lbs, and 49 inches long
its the most accurate Crosman or Benjamin that I have shot
