Since many in Hawaii cannot have NFA item, there is a possibility if you has relatives or other properties in a different state.
First you'd need to establish a residence with in that State and also a secure limited access storage unit.
A safe with "lock and key" not combination is recommended or a safe deposit box.

Oregon is a NFA friendly State (all NFA are legal)  and easy to obtain residence.

you can't bring it back to Hawaii so what would be the point for most of us?

Thanks for the thread! Was wondering the same thing.  Hoping to be able to live in a free state during the summer and in hawaii during the winter.  A few more rental properties and I should be that much closer.
