Here is a press release regarding their new powders:

"IMR® Legendary Powders Releases New IMR Family of Powders
IMR Legendary Powders is excited to announce a new family of shotshell and pistol propellants.
We believe it takes a Legendary Powder brand like IMR to improve this series of legendary powders. This series of five popular burn-rate powders covers an extremely wide range of shotshell and pistol cartridges, utilizing new, green technology. Each powder was designed to match current shotshell bushing charts, so the handloader will already have the appropriate bushings available for each load. This new technology burns clean, providing accurate metering and top performance characteristics. All of these powders are REACH compliant, meaning these propellants are not harmful to the environment.
IMR Target™ The first powder in this new family is a fast-burning pistol powder. This fine-grained, small-flake pistol powder meters superbly, providing very precise loads in even the smallest pistol cartridges like the .25 ACP!
IMR Red™ The second powder in this new family was designed to be an efficient, clean-burning, 12-gauge target powder. IMR Red also performs nicely in various lead pistol target loads, such as match competition loads and Cowboy reduced loads.
IMR Green™ The third in this new family is slightly slower-burning than IMR Red, making it an ideal Trap Handicap powder and soon a favorite with Sporting Clays enthusiasts.
IMR Unequal™ IMR Unequal combines small-sized flakes for uniform metering in all pistol applications and its burn speed accommodates a wide range of shotshell and pistol cartridges.
IMR Blue™ The slowest burn speed of the five new propellants, IMR BLUE, has excellent application for heavy 12-gauge 2-¾-inch, 3-inch and 3-1/2-inch field loads."

Interesting to note:
IMR Target similar in burn rate to Bullseye
IMR Red similar in burn rate to Red Dot
IMR Green similar in burn rate to Green Dot
IMR Unequal similar in burn rate to Unique
IMR Blue similar in burn rate to Blue Dot

It appears they are trying to cash in on the popularity of the associated Alliant Powders. There are some differences such as their green claims. What is most interesting is their clean burning claims. If their Unequal product is close enough in burn rate and much cleaner burning than Unique then they might have a good competitive product. Here is the Hodgdon Burn Rate Chart with the new powders: http://www.hodgdon.com/PDF/Burn%20Rates%20-%202015-2016.pdf

REACH Compliant.  From googling, REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) is a EU thing.  Don't remember our congress signing this into law or even the soon to be gone emperor taking it upon himself to bind the U.S. by E.O.
Begin to wonder if this only will apply to powder available to citizens or also be mandatory for mil ammo.

Considering they are marketing this new line of powders to the average joe reloader I would guess it is only available to us casual reloaders. Their military powders are not being marketed in this way so who knows?

Considering they are trying to move in on Alliant's market and me being the type to try new powders I will be a buyer of these powders. At least at first. Not so concerned about the REACH compliance but I would be happy if they are cleaner than the Alliant equivalents. If I find any locally I will buy and try and review.

Looking at the Alliant site and considering Vihtavouri; since powers are made in EU countries, now I can see why IMR is following REACH standards.   I'm all for clean burning which means less effort to clean, but tend to be weary of these EU rules which seem like Kali rules.  Will keep an open mind on these new powders.

If my memory serves me correctly powders are manufactured all over the world including the U.S., Canada, many European countries and Australia. But as far as I can tell there are no ingredients that are bad for the environment. My guess is that they are doing this so they can market and sell to the oversees markets. Not sure most Americans are concerned about European compliance.

I like VV powders but the cost is almost a turn off for me. I don't mind paying more for a powder that works better than another. The only thing keeping me from using them, beside the cost, is I am able to get similar or better performance from the less expensive so called American brands. At least in what I have tried over the years. I love how clean the VV powders I have tried, burn. Some Alliant, or the old Hercules brand as I remember them when I first started reloading, have always been dirty burning. While it doesn't bother me when using them in semi auto pistols because they are so easy to clean. When using in revolvers, semi auto rifles and even bolt action rifles I get frustrated sometimes how dirty they get even after just a few rounds. With the advent of better cleaners these days this has diminished somewhat. But still I can tell a huge difference when using a dirty powder compared to a cleaner burning powder.

I am always excited when new products that I use come on the market. And the fact they are so blatantly marketing them towards the old stalwarts of the industry shows me that there is room for improvement and competition.

.
The only VV I used is N110 for .357 mag., but I agree it is clean and easy to meter but expensive compared to WIN etc.  In my limited experience, I found that BL(C)-2 was more dirty than CFE-223 and if memory is correct AA7 was dirtier than Autoconp.   Cleaning semi pistols are easy to clean and yep more time consuming in semi rifles.   When I run out of N110 I have W296 for backup.
