Any leads on a good Roofer? (Oahu)
« on: August 28, 2017, 10:13:42 PM »
It's about that time again and I need to get my Roof's Shingles redone.  Anybody have any good experiences with any Roofing Companies?

Thanks

Can only speak from the supplier side, but David's Custom Roofing, Kapili Construction, and Murakami Roofing have done steady business, so they must be doing something right. :shaka:

I just had my house reroofed 5 months ago. The contractor was Fullmer Bros. Construction.
The process was smooth except for a minor confusion about removal of the pv panels.
A couple phone calls cleared it up.

The project manager coordinated with my insurance company to cover most of the cost.
The actual work was a remarkable dance of the solar guys and roofing guys.
It was impressive.

You want the number of my project manager?

Yes, thank you.  Didn't even consider our Insurance.

I got one done by New Era roofing a couple years ago. Very competitive price and they worked quickly, but they didn't do a very good job picking up nails and left a bunch of old shingles inside the ceiling. Not very professional, but if you can stay on top of them they are a good deal.

If you have any missing shingles, Fullmer Bros. Is very good at getting insurance involved, working with the insurance co. and maximizing the insurance benefits.

Can't vouge for their work, but looks like O.F. was happy with it.

Fullmer was the most expensive of the 4 vendors: Davids, Cool Roofing and Discovery. Davids and Cool wouldnt remove the solar water heater panel.

I just sent a PM with more info.
Because I had some shingles that blew off, insurance covered most everything.
Here is a pic of the new shingles. They supposed to be more energy efficient.

David's Custom are super cool and professional people. They do good work too.
Not the cheapest but buyer beware on the real cheap guys.  And they've been around a long time if any warranty issues pop up.

Fullmer basically chases the insurance money. Only started hearing about them after the Kailua Hail Storm.
They've been chasing wind damaged roofs ever since. They know how to work the insurance.

If your roof's not leaking, wait until the wind blows. It's a huge expense to change your roof and you'd be amazed how much insurance will cover if it gets wind damaged.
Especially if it's an old roof and not reparable or a discontinued roofing product, like hardishake or cemwood.

I've been paying homeowners insurance for 30 years and never filed a claim.
It's about time I got some return on that. :geekdanc:

I've had work done by David's (Cedar Shake tear off) and was happy with it.
I know Fullmer Bro's personally and they are a very conscientious group.
 ( I rented to them).
Not that it matters but his brother owns "North Shore Tacos (Fish Tacos) in Hauula by Tamura's ( I helped slightly with that construction)  and they have an additional Taco truck in Haleiwa
