Add the S&W 940 to the moon clip list.
Back when I was in a free country my wife carried a S&W 940.
I carried a Astra A70 or an RX 22.
Today in Hawaii we fear for our lives when we
are not at our place of residence, business, or sojourn.
Oh yeah, the 940. Don’t think that one is made any more. That was a while ago. Thanks for reminding me.

My guess is they are few and far between on Gun Broker and going for a premium.

Moon clip acts as sort of a speed loader.
brass pops right out.
Yes 940 is older but a sweet CC gun.
They are not cheap at $800 plus today.
They only made them for a few years.
I think I paid $325 for mine the day Clinton
was first elected.  Clinton was a good
gun salesman also.

good points for the 357
compares a 9mm+p to a hot loaded 357 round.  the potential of the caliber.
of course, I'm a revolver guy so i'm going to backup the wheelgun.

Nothing really new here. But for those who don’t know, he explains the differences, the potentials and comparables very well.

For me, I never compared the .357 to the 9mm. I always felt that the better comparison was with the .38 Special and 9mm. And I believe the 9mm is better out of a short barrel comparatively speaking. Out of a 4” or longer barrel, I think the 2 rounds are pretty close.

I have been rethinking my SD gun and I am considering going to my DAO S&W Model 10 in .38 Special with a 3” barrel. I have been researching some old loadings for .38 that come close to the low end of the .357. A friend of mine loaded them for me to try and I was very impressed with the performance. I’m trying to find similar loadings using a different powder he did. I need to do further research and load testing but I really think if I can find something suitable using a powder I have on hand I will more than likely make the switch.

Almost as much bloopers as actual content.  ;D

This guy can be a bit of a goober, but some of his videos are interesting.

Energy is 1/2 m x v^2. So a 100 FPS difference is quite a lot. That is assuming equal bullet expansion performance. That said, I’ve always considered .357 Mag in a class of its own. Similar to Inspector, I’ve thought .38 SPL in a similar class to 9 mm. I admit that .357 Mag oug of snubbies isn’t my favorite to shoot. Maybe if I expanded my revolver collection, I might get a snubbing .357 Mag one day, just for versatility.

he's kind of a funny guy, so I enjoy his humor and out takes as much as his gun knowledge
when I bought my LCR in 38sp I considered the 357 as well, but i'm glad I went with the 38sp bc shooting that out of a light small revolver is about all I would like to handle.  even 38sp out of the LCR is pretty snappy on my wrist
but with my 3" GP100, 357 is a breeze bc its a much heavier gun and the grip is bigger too, but its not very concealable

I hear ya.  For my first revolver, I really wanted a 4"  GP100 or 686+.  I ended up with a 6" barreled 686+ as that is what they had in stock when I ended up getting another handgun.  After shooting the 6" barreled 686+, I've been VERY happy.  It's primarily a teaching gun and for range fun.  The weight of the 6" barrel and heavy nature of the 686 series makes for a very pleasant shooting gun.  Even with the full .357 Mag "hot loads".   ;D

I think the .357 Magnum is one of the best all around rounds for just about anything. I have probably shot more .357 than any other cartridge I load for. Except maybe 9mm. And even really hot rounds I can shoot all day without pain in a larger frame revolver. BTW, the .357 is interesting to shoot out of a semi auto pistol. I have not shot the Coonan but I have shot the Desert Eagle in .357. I expected it to have more recoil than it did. Especially since I was also shooting the Eagle chambered for the 50 AE round.

I like 4”-5” barrels on a .357 revolver. If you are not going to holster the gun then a 6” barrel is sweet for target work. I just put a Vortex Venom reflex red dot on my 5” barrel S&W 627. I bought the red dot used from a friend. When I finally got on paper with it, I was resting the gun to sight it in and I had forgotten how accurate the gun and round I load for it is. I put 5 rounds all touching on target. I wish I could shoot like that without resting it. It is my favorite revolver.

As far as snubbies are concerned I do have my Model 10 with a 3” barrel but it is only in .38 Special. I don’t appreciate the recoil in a smaller lighter revolver like an airweight or something similar. A few hot .357 rounds is okay but it hurts after a short while. I remember shooting a Ruger SP-101 5 shot snubby and it didn’t take more than a cylinder or two to make me want to stop. And the SP-101 is stout for a small revolver. I also shot it with some .38’s and it was still a bit of a handful.

Nope, registered :( it on Columbus Day and plan on shooting it for the first time at the HRA annual meeting, Sunday the 28th of this month. I know you're a HRA member so come by action bay 1 if you want to try it.

You have a holster for it yet?

I bet that will be a sweet shooting gun.  Might have to set up challenge against a micro semi-auto.  Like a Glock 43 or Shield.

Doubtful. Think I’ll still be taking it easy after surgery.
