I can't find a story that names the make and model of the legally acquired (i.e. passed a background check, etc.) handgun (likely a semi-auto) used by this murderer at the UNCC campus killings. This must mean, mustn't it, to be logically consistent, that the "commonsense gun safety regulation" crowd will have to demand the banning of all semi-automatic handguns as "weapons of war" and "no one needs a semi-automatic handgun for hunting", etc.?
In all their blather about banning "assault weapons" in response to school shootings in particular, typically meaning AR type platform long guns, the banners consistently fail to mention the worst (in terms of total fatalities) school shooting murders ever, Virginia Tech, where the murderer used two legally acquired (passed a background check, etc.) semi-auto handguns, including one a .22LR caliber. To remain logically consistent (never really even on the radar for the banners as a consideration of policy advocacy) wouldn't they have to include ALL semi-automatic handguns in their ban requirements, even .22s? I'm just askin', because otherwise it seems like they are hypocrites, liars, and, worst of all, logically inconsistent.
Also, please see this interview with a professor who has run computer simulations based upon real life events regarding the intuitively idiotic "Run, Hide, Fight" recommended strategy for "active shooter scenarios". He mentions that "Fight" should be second, if not first... for example, at Columbine the students were "hiding" under tables in the library for NINE MINUTES after they heard gunfire, at which point the murderers strolled in and shot them where they laid "hiding". At UNCC a student immediately charged the murderrer and was killed, but apparently disrupted him enough that he wasn't able to kill or wound as many as otherwise could have happened.
