How to maintain your dies

How do you guys maintain your dies on your progressive presses without them rusting? I know you can spray the outside with some sort of protectant but how do you maintain the inside working surfaces of the sizing die and crimp die? Of course you could spray the inside but you’d have to clean the dies every time you start reloading right?

Lol yep the struggle is real. Especially when living in climates like hawaii. The easiest thing i found, which isnt always available or feasible. But ive switched entirely to redding / forster / whidden dies. Ive done the whole one shot spray, oiling, eezox, waxes, etc on my cheaper hornady or lee dies and they always still rust or i have to worry about mixing oils into my live ammo.
My redding dies sit out on my bench or in my press and they havent had a spot of rust in the last 2 years. Sometimes the part that will rust is the bushing collar on the seating die, but it wipes off fast.

Heres 2 pics. One with a redding die in my forster and my dillon with dies setup for sizing. As you can see. I used a hornady lock ring on one and its rusted to shit and the die body itself is clean lol.

I have a pretty unique way of keeping it out of the weather. My 550 is mounted to a 3/4" board I bought at Home Depot. When I decide to load I pull it out of a sealed Husky rolling toolbox and clamp it to my workbench in the garage.

Keeps the dies and steel parts pretty nice and anything that does end up flashing comes off easily with a brass brush.

I do regardless though, after loading a few thousand rounds remove the dies to clean the inside working surfaces or just to get whatever has accumulated in there out using a cotton swab. And if I have to a soft metal plumbers brush for stubborn grit.
