I’m old! I remember 2 cents a round. And that was regular price. If you waited for the sale you could get 1 1/2 cents a round or even 1 cent a round. Of course that was for the cheap stuff like Wildcat.

There was a store called Gemco when I was growing up. I think it was either a membership store or had similar prices to the membership stores without the membership. They mailed out a flyer every week. And they always advertised a brick of 22 for $10. Along with some gun specials. If you waited long enough they would put a brick on sale for $7.50. And around X-Mas or other holidays they would have a coupon special if you bought at least so much in merchandise you can get the brick with the coupon for $5. Probably a loss leader type of thing to try and get you to spend at least whatever the minimum amount was. So my dad would buy X-Mas presents there and then he let me buy a brick for $5 with my allowance. Of course I always got a brick as a present as well. But it was usually the good stuff. Remington SV Green Box.

You are SO MEAN to me OF. I’ve not said a word making fun of what you do with your dog. I have not even mentioned your putting on that coconut bra and grass skirt after you get drunk and then do that stuff with your dog. I have not said a word to anyone about that. yet all you do is be mean to me. So if you are mean to me one more time I am going to tell everyone 

Damn GEMCO!!!!!  I haven't seen one of those in a million years. Last one I saw was Sherman Oaks / Woodland Hills I believe.

Around 1976-77 I bought a Marlin Model 60 from Gemco for $50 on sale. I think they were around $75 normally. I think around that time regular price on a brick was still around $10. But not long after that the price shot up because of the high inflation from the Carter Administration.

The Gemco near me was in Signal Hill/Long Beach.

And for the record, I never put on a coconut bra, nor did I ever get drunk and wack my dog.
I think your dementia-riddled brain is getting me and hound confused. It's a common problem with the elderly.

Btw, I went to the range last week and shot a beautiful Kimber 1911 22 conversion kit fitted to a Springfield frame with a RDS.
It belongs to my non-crazy shooting buddy. It wasn't reliable with standard velocity ammo so I gave him some hi velocity Winchester ammo.
That gun functioned flawlessly with both the Winchester and CCI mini mags.
I also clocked those rounds from his pistol. I have numbers if anyone is interested.
You surely do lose a lot of speed when you shoot 22 from a pistol.

Not sure why? I need to work on it and find out what’s going on with it. When it ignites reliably it really does prefer HV ammo. It works well with Mini Mags and Blazer. SV ammo can be a little hit and miss. I think that is pretty normal for conversion kits.

I was really enjoying practicing with the 22 conversion until it started with the light strikes. I have to figure out what’s wrong with it one of these days.

I've got the AA conversion also for a Gen 3 G19. And yes, runs awesome of HV stuff thats new. I had a box of O>L>D> stuff and it misfired every other round. But yeah, Mini-mags are great in it. I have some other brands of HV and need to try them out

RE: pistol functioning

My friend with the kimber mentioned that even though both win hi vel and CCI MM functioned flawlessly, the CCI ammo felt better.
By that he said that CCI MM had less felt recoil. The curious thing is that the CCI clocked almost 50 fps faster.
I'm guessing  the powder burn rate of the CCI is slower.

Not that any of this makes any difference in actual practice.

I have practice firearms in 22LR for LCR, Ruger American bolt action, and a CMMG 22LR conversion for AR. and 22 SA Single Ten for my SBH 44 magnum, same grip frame, same grips
all good practice rimfire for the centerfire
at least it's a good excuse to get more guns
