The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

remember the stories about that day we may or may not have visited "a friend up north" and some things may have been taken from the lot that day?
i think the items were returned...

Also, stellar reporting as always.  Seems like there's a LOT more to this story (always are).  But also somewhat part of the dynamics of smaller and tight knit communities.

Have "a friend" that is well known in his community and has a property where "only a fool" would break in and take stuff.  Well, there was a break in and stuff stolen a while back.  Word was sent out to return stuff since some items had sentimental value.  A couple of days later, the items were returned. . .

I had heard of those stories, but always 5-6 person versions.  Never from the person it happened to.

This video features attorney Doug Chin commenting on self-defense laws in HI. Imperative that victim 1 keep his mouth shut. Get a lawyer.

Remember, we the citizens of HI are the jury, and we have the final say about whether a defendant is not guilty.

The state should leave that home owner alone but you know they can't.

Too many plebs might get the idea that we have rights or something

You can see how excited Doug is to drag the victim through the justice system and extracting every last ounce of their wealth.

Law enforcement in this state is already broken, and it's about to get a whole lot worse.

Pretty good recap video for those who may not have seen it.
Homeowners name is used. Some here may recognize it.
Stand up guy.

I read Hawaiifreepress every day.

This was in their post on this subject.
"A spokesman replied: "We have not made any charging decisions regarding that portion of the case. It is still under active investigation.”  He did [nopt] say: “You have to understand that this homeowner took one of our most promising young criminals from us just as he was hitting his stride.  That kind of wrongdoing cannot go unpunished."…

Pretty good characterization of some(not all) government officials.
I could not do better.

My opinion.
When fired upon on your own property, permission to fire back on your property.
No brainer. Hopefully, closed book this one.

How much you want to bet the guns weren't registered?
I'll send HIFCO(sp?) twenty bucks if they were.

Chin is an ass. Travel ban lawsuit filed, only to be dropped when he lost the run for mayor. Wasted resources to get his name in the paper.
