Be aware of what's happening in your neighborhood

Today, my neighbor caught me in front when I checked my mail.  He said he called the Cops to report suspicious people.  After he described what happened, two Cop cars rolled up and checked out the white van he reported the 3 masked individuals were focusing on.

I checked my video footage from the street, and here's what I saw:

A small black car with a sunroof approached and parked next to the house next to me ... left as I face the street.

3 people got out.  All wearing what I considered inappropriate attire for today -- long pants, long sleeves and/or jackets, and either ski masks or the balaclava style masks police and military sometimes wear.

They crossed the road and walked further down the street opposite side from my house.  My camera lost them past a tree that blocks its view, but the neighbor said they crossed the next intersection and were doing something around an older white work van parked there.

After a minute or so, video showed them all 3 running back to their car.  The driver took 3 reversals to complete a 3-point turn to go back the direction they came from when I first recorded them.

The whole thing took about 3 minutes from pulling up, parking, walking to the van, running back, and turning around to leave.

My cameras are in the 720 resolution range, so I can't get much detail on the car such as plates.  Just an older black sedan, probably a Nissan or Lexus.  Might have been lowered, too.  The three looked like males, all pretty lean, and looked rather young the way they moved and ran.  Not much chance of getting a better description from the video, but the neighbor told me they all 3 appeared Black.  One seemed like he might walk up the neighbor's driveway until he saw the 12-inch screwdriver he'd picked up.

Anyway, I'm checking my motion sensors more frequently when they notify me, and I'll be monitoring the road out front in case I see them again.

Stay frosty.   :geekdanc: :shaka:

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world;
the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself.
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Sounds like you have a good neighbor! Tips from citizens are a huge help for cops

That's one great thing about where I live, as well as the house I grew up in.  Good neighbors and got to know many if them.  In the house I grew up in, many are the original owners that bought same time as my parents, so have known them all my life.  The are retired and many have second generation living there.  They see everything, talk to many in the neighborhood, etc.

One next door neighbor (family house) walks his dog 2x a day and talks to lots of folks in the neighborhood.  He let me know about a small section of roofing that was flapping in the wind.  I neighbor two streets away and slightly uphill noticed it and let me neighbor know.  Nothing like eagle eye neighbors in a close knit community.
