Does anyone have a link to the new PTA process for handguns that isn’t 32 pages long?

When I try to google, I get the old PTA process where you need the handgun info when applying for a handgun PTA.  Also found a 32 page document on the 30 day permit but my eyes glaze over just looking at it

I also tried to search thru this forum but my search fu must be weak or I’m blind.   Probably both….

I heard that now you can apply for a permit with no pistol info and the permit is good for like 30 days…..so sort of like a rifle permit.

Can the new handgun permit be used to register multiple handguns…..similar to a rifle permit?  Or is it still 1 handgun per permit?  Ie.  4 handguns = 4 permits.

I'm not an expert, but from reading up to page 9 the process is similar to the older process. Seems the only difference is in that you have 30 days after the permit is issued, which in the past is 2 weeks after you apply, not when you pick it up. and that in the past 3 pistols could be purchased on 1 permit. Now it is 1. for the PTA you still need the serial, caliber and barrel length. Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in

Thanks for reading that document!  I took a quick stab at it too.   

I guess the major change was we now have 30 days to use the permit after it is issued.

Still have to provide handgun info when applying for PTA……and still 1 handgun per permit.

I was hoping it was going to be more like the rifle PTA process.

The document also mentions that the seller has to deliver the permit to HPD.  Does that mean the seller scans or takes a photo of the permit and emails the pdf/photo to HPD?

HPD website looks updated, though wording is a bit off.

The permits are supposed to be valid for 30 days, not 26 as written on the website, due to my lawsuit and the HRS changes.

No gun info needed for handgun permits, but the if you don’t provide info, the permit pickup and registration need to be done in-person. The permits are good for 30 days from date of issuance.

Handgun permits, serial number or blank, are one-for-one; they can only be used for one gun each. Yes; you will need 4 handgun permits for 4 different handguns.

Blank handgun permits can only be used for handguns purchased from dealers. People buying from private sellers need to provide the information for the handgun at application or permit pick-up.

I bought from Palmetto State ($200 RIA MAPP close out) and local private sellers.  Since I have to already go in for the local private seller, I guess I’ll wait till the MAPPs arrive and get the serial numbers.  I’ll submit all the applications in one trip.

I wish HPD would condense the PTA stuff from the HRS and put it in layman’s terms on their website.   Taking a quick look at the HRS, I couldn’t really infer that handgun info is not needed if buying from a dealer/ffl.

The guys at the HPD desk were spewing wrong info on the old process even when all the info was on their website.   

I think now only having a link to the HRS is just going to cause a lot more confusion for their staff.  Not everyone likes to spend time trying to read/interpret legalese.
