Comments are calling for the ban of these "toys"
I admit these helis are dangerous like anything else in life. I just sold a Trex 500, for comparison the guy who was killed flew a Trex 700 and there is a bigger one - a Trex 800. I now jsut fly a quad for FPV.

That was a freak accident.. if they actually ban this, Gun owners and law abiding citizens should be able to purchase this.

here's an 800 800mm blades with Alan Szabo as the "pilot" who makes over $100k a year doing this stuff
I think with a heli that big he is flying too close

I disagree about this being a freak accident.  It's negligence and stupidity.  It's no different than guys shooting themselves with their own firearms.

Pretty much. Collective pitch RC helis are extremely difficult to fly, which is why most practice on simulators and fixed pitch helis for quite awhile before moving on to the real thing.

Man, that sucker moveth!

Seems like one little moment of inattention or a battery croaketh or something and he could have gotten all hurty and bleedy and corpsey, too..

I agree - tragic. Sad. On another note, I cringe when I hear other RC heli enthusiasts refer to themselves as pilots and I would get into a heated argument with them. RC helis is not a sport.

this guy was lucky! Lost the tail and smacked him in the back appears the blade hit his neck as well....
