XTREME Bullet-9mm Test Review
« on: November 11, 2013, 08:18:34 PM »
Gents,

After trying the XTREME 45 acp 230 gr. plated HP bullet, I decided to try the other offerings while they still have them.
Link to the 45 acp review:

I got a box of 124 gr. PHP (plated hollow points)
Like the 45 heads I tested, the 9mm heads had a similar well made look and feel. They have a shape similar to Speer Gold Dot.
Price and availability is good. With current 15% off sale price they are $90/m delivered. They arrived about 10 days after I place the order.

I received the heads on Saturday 11/9 and loaded up a few with Unique powder because I have a lot  of Unique sitting around.
(I would have preferred a faster powder but I was in a rush)
Then I went out the next day and shot them.
Here are the load specs
9mm Luger
124 gr PHP
LOA= 1.10"
TC=.373"
Fed primers
Win cases
Test gun=stock- SW3913 (3.5" bbl)
Powder= 5.4 gr. Unique
Velocity=1087 (slightly faster than Hornady XTP 124 JHP factory ammo)
Test fired at 25 yds from a rest. But it was windy yesterday.

They fed and functioned with no problem. Accuracy seemed adequate given the test gun and the weather conditions.
I like them.
You judge for yourself.

Thanks for the review on the 9mm. I read your review on the 230gr Hp and it seems that they performed well do u have any experience with their 200gr Hp was thinking about trying some of those out.

No. I did not order any. How about you try them and write us a review?
The reason I did not order any of those is because I cast my own 200 gr. heads. So if I wanted a med. weight bullet, I just use those.
Also, I load for my friends and that big-ass 230 gr. HP looks impressive as hell. They love it.
Lastly, I tend to favor heavier heads with a longer bearing surface. I think it increases my odds of getting an accurate load.

coming up: my review of Xtreme 10/40 180 gr PHP
