Hey Chris, it looks like the training is coming up pretty quickly. All set? Do you know how many people are coming?

wow... wish i had the money to go to this!  I've always wanted to take a training class.  You always see on mainland forums people recommending to save money on buying that expensive gun and buy the cheaper more practical gun and use the savings on ammo and TRAINING.  However, there's just no training offered here!

The largest  problem is we have no where to train really.  We can't even find ranges to use to make more instructors generally.

What about the guy who runs the Fun Shoots.  Acording to his Gun Store's( http://kaneohegs.com/training.htm) website he has been to all of the best shooting schools in the main land.  Would he be able to sponsor some kind of defensive shooting program during the Funshoots?

Thoughts?

A friend of mine who attended a Fund Shoot last year said they were teaching folks how to defend themselves by using pistol retention techniqes at point blank range.   He told me that it was pretty cool to be shooting so close to a target.  The actual target blew away after the participants were shooting thier pistols near thier side.  Hope they do that this year.  I'd like to get some high speed traing to defend myself.

True statement.  Magnum is too expensive!  The matches look very chalengeing since I am a beginner.  I heard the SRGC will alow you to draw and shoot a close range.

Need to check them out in the future!

I heard that some of the mailand schools used to come down to Hawaii, but someone got in trouble for using goverment property to make a profit, which is why some of the weapons instructors have not come back to Hawaii.  Oh well....may be in the future things will change once we get 2A going in Hawaii.

The Funshoots are divided into two basic sections. The first section is for the new shooters, especially the recent graduates of the LIFE classes, to come out and reinforce their newfound skills, and to just get some "trigger time" in. The second part of the day is more "advanced" training. All HRA members are welcome to attend, but you must be there for the respective safety briefings for each section in order to participate. There is also the expectation that participants assist in the set up and breakdown of the tent and other equipment used.
