Why Hawaii does not have CCW.
« on: November 22, 2013, 04:57:15 PM »

As I was gathering info to oppose Councilman Chang's  Resolution 13-280 Anti Gun Resolution
https://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=12151.0
and found the most disturbing news.

Here is a list of ALL Hawaii CCW Applications and results by year.

2012    5   Applications (4 Honolulu, 1 Maui)
2011    ?    Unknown
2010    3   Applications
2009    6   Applications
2008    1   Application
2007    7   Applications
2006    1   Application    1 Approved (Kauai)
2005    6   Applications
2004    5   Applications
2003    4   Applications
2002    4   Applications
2001   10  Applications    2 Approved
2000    1   Application

53 Applications for CCW (+2011) of which 3 were approved.
It wasn't the number of approvals that shocked me, it was the number of applications !
4 applications per year for 13 years !   :wtf:

The reason why there is no CCW in Hawaii is because THERE IS NO DEMAND FOR IT !

I could totally see their defense in this issue.
"You want a CCW permit ?
Well gee, there's almost a million guns in Hawaii and you're the only one asking for a CCW.
What makes you so special ?

I must confess that am "Part of the Problem" as my CCW application has been sitting on the desk top screen of my computer since September 10, 2011.

I am currently getting more info regarding the actual application process to perhaps "file in bulk".
I'm sure there is someone in our group that is or knows a Notary.
Imagine a news story showing someone dropping off HUNDREDS of completed and notarized CCW applications at the COP's office !
Maybe FFL dealers could even hand out the CCW application to gun buyers before they go to HPD and  they could hand it in then.

    C'mon folks.
Lets make a true effort to get our CCW's in and make Hawaii politicians see the demand and our voting numbers.

For those long in tooth, it's like the drive in.

This is info I received 2 years ago from CCW CRusader Chris (FunTimes)
http://hawaiiccw.com/news/ccw-permits-action-required/

http://hawaiiccw.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/CCW-Request-Guide.pdf
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1z5DXlx5mM-1B6CNdFJgTK7nKRGPSxXJfEGncrp2RiP0/edit?hl=en&pli=1#

I can send you my copy of above as an example BUT CHRIS NEVER GOT BACK TO ME WHEN I SENT IT TO HIM TO PROOF as noted on that page,
(Maybe thats why I never filed it )  ;D

Application can be found here
http://hawaiiccw.com/hawaii-gun-firearm-laws/hawaii-county-application-license-carry-firearms-weapons/

 When I asked....

2)    Must I Drop off  forms at the Gun registration window or may I have them delivered directly to the Chief of Police ?
Signature at window required or can it be notarized and delivered as above to COP?

3)   If delivered directly to the Chief of Police, can the delivery package contain more than one single individuals application (100 separate requests) for CCW ?

 the answer was

There are no written procedures for applying for a permit (at least any that have been released to the public) so variances in that process are not uncommon. Generally they have required all applicant to obtain and complete applicable forms at the firearms section. I doubt there is any real possibility of delivering applications directly to the Chief.

That is why I would like to do a bulk drop off with news coverage.

By "most people", you must mean both of your friends.

If this were true, I think there would be more reports in the news of people being arrested for carrying an illegally concealed firearm.

After all, people are arrested every day here for a wide variety of charges.  If "most people" were ccw without the permit as you contend, why don't we hear about the arrests?

I'm not saying most people go out randomly and start to shoot people for fun.  A shit load of people do carry a gun on them without ccw permits though and its not like cops frisk every single person they come across, especially when they are not dressed like a thug or are not doing anything stupid.  If you think there are not a lot of people which do this, well good for you.  Stick your head in the sand and mind your own business!

if people want to carry, they will regardless of if they have a permit to do so or not.

If the people you describe are "not doing anything stupid," then I infer from that they are not committing violent crimes with the illegally concealed guns.

That being the case, I think "minding my own business" is exactly what I, and the rest of us, ought to do.  It's their choice, and if caught by authorities, it's their problem..  I don't feel the need to control their behavior if the law they break isn't hurting anyone but themselves.

I don't always condone breaking the law.  But when I do, it's because the law is Unconstitutional...

make sure you conceal carry at home, if someone sees you with a gun even in your own yard and calls the cops, your going to be in a world of hurt!

« on: November 20, 2013, 11:51:49 AM »
this is a moot point for Hawaii, you can't carry handguns so no caliber is the best for self defense in Hawaii!

I risk my life every day in my job because I carry valuables and I cannot legally carry a weapon to protect myself because it is a felony to do so here in Hawaii.  What would I do in this case?  I'd get shot/stabbed like my government tells me to do so and possibly die as getting a felony would literally end my career as well as my life.  You live where you want and if you can't have a gun like the law says, you can't have a gun!  Face it, we elected these assholes and we now have to play by their rules just like how we elected Obama and now we have to live in this shit hole of a country.
