As I was gathering info to oppose Councilman Chang's Resolution 13-280 Anti Gun Resolution
https://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=12151.0and found the most disturbing news.
Here is a list of ALL Hawaii CCW Applications and results by year.
2012 5 Applications (4 Honolulu, 1 Maui)
2011 ? Unknown
2010 3 Applications
2009 6 Applications
2008 1 Application
2007 7 Applications
2006 1 Application 1 Approved (Kauai)
2005 6 Applications
2004 5 Applications
2003 4 Applications
2002 4 Applications
2001 10 Applications 2 Approved
2000 1 Application
53 Applications for CCW (+2011) of which 3 were approved.
It wasn't the number of approvals that shocked me, it was the number of applications !
4 applications per year for 13 years !

The reason why there is no CCW in Hawaii is because THERE IS NO DEMAND FOR IT !
I could totally see their defense in this issue.
"You want a CCW permit ?
Well gee, there's almost a million guns in Hawaii and you're the only one asking for a CCW.
What makes you so special ?
I must confess that am "Part of the Problem" as my CCW application has been sitting on the desk top screen of my computer since September 10, 2011.
I am currently getting more info regarding the actual application process to perhaps "file in bulk".
I'm sure there is someone in our group that is or knows a Notary.
Imagine a news story showing someone dropping off HUNDREDS of completed and notarized CCW applications at the COP's office !
Maybe FFL dealers could even hand out the CCW application to gun buyers before they go to HPD and they could hand it in then.
C'mon folks.
Lets make a true effort to get our CCW's in and make Hawaii politicians see the demand and our voting numbers.

For those long in tooth, it's like the drive in.
"You won't get any if you don't ask for it"
