Anyone live in HK? I suggest running against the hallway monitor.
I agree. In an area that consistently votes in conservative candidates for the house and senate this guy is an anomaly. He's been in for years and most candidates are voted in on name recognition alone. Rarely do people pay attention to their politics, as it's a non-partisan race.
There are a couple of other things to consider as well. If he's voted out, one of his cronies will undoubtedly take his spot at the top, the new member will be junior. Therefore the entire board will need to be targeted. Otherwise, we risk having someone with even more fascist views being in charge.
Then there's the problem of finding someone that's willing to do the job, dealing with the complaints and issues of the community. Hardly what I would call a fun packed adventure.
We should, IMHO, begin working and organizing in this direction. It may take a few years, but the results would be worth it.
In the meantime, I intend to become a regular fixture at all future NB meetings.
