I'll take the over nine just barely but I believe it will happen soon enough. What is your take macsak since you mentioned it?

Im surprised and glad that we're seeing good progression on the range. Something is better than nothing but Im really hoping theyre considering opening up targets past  100 yards or working on it also, that's would be cherry!!

just because the holes are there doesn't mean we get to use them...

aieahound will be along soon to say...

Sounds like my X wife

Funny, that's what I told my wife when she pulled out the strap.......Oh, nevermind. TMI.

I hope they have 50 yard targets for 22 shooters ( like me ) and the kids.

Also, it can take a bit of ammo to get an initial Zero at 100 yards with a new scope or sights.

I can't believe how many people are taking the "over."  I bet the first hole happens the first weekend the range is open, and I've got $10 in my pocket I'm willing to back that with!
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

i can't believe how many people are holding out hope that anything other than 100 yard shooting will be allowed
everything we have heard so far is that it will be 100 yard, paper and rubber targets only
with targets raised so that impacts are in the center of the berm
we may hear otherwise, but there are many indications that this is the case
i will be pleasantly surprised if i am wrong, but realistic expectations are in order

What about the kids and competitive small-bore shooters ?
No facility on Oahu to accomodate ?

What, a .22s going to ricochet over the mountain ?
Limit 50 yards to rimfire.
Dammit, that will never happen, makes too much sense

I would think the HRA would be up in arms about this.
Where's Dr. Cooper and Harvey Gerwig ?

And we really need to paint those benches.  :D

Oh, and Kudos to Mayor Caldwell, so far this is the fastest govt. project ever.

We're not happy with the present KHSC situation, but I would just be happy to have a place to shoot, even with limitations if that was my only venue. :'(

Personally have never really seen the City act soooooooooo fast on any other issue/project and I doubt you have either.
This was/is dealing with an extremely controversial issue (firearms) yet the Mayor and crew have been coming thru for us ! :worship:

But we've been saying for quite awhile 'Baby steps".
First fix any safety issue's that may be lacking,  throw in our hand to help, show our gratitude, try it for awhile and then ask for the improvements we find lacking. (-100 yrds/100+ yrds).  :D

I really view this as a stepping stone which has shown us, the shooting community, that the politicos are paying attention, hear our cry and desire our support .

And so I say to all.....

First of all, I would like to thank Mayor Caldwell for his concern regarding the safety issues here at KHSC and his immediate action in cooperation with Parks director Toni Robinson, to rectify these issues in a timely manner to re-open one of Hawaii's most used park facilities.
Their combined efforts have improved  KHSC for all Hawaii's shooting sports enthusiast.

Senator Mike Gabbard, Senator Ihara and Senator Slom are three other such politician's I would like to thank.
Senator Ihara SB 2050 re: Firearms Registration waiting period which supports reasonable registration laws.
Mike Gabbard  has just introduced bill SB2353 re: Lawful CCW and Senato Slom's bill SB2168 also re: CCW both of which support our American Constitution !
Though these bills may not be "perfect" as of yet, they are steps in the right direction by OUR POLITICIANS !

It is politician's like Caldwell, Ihar, Slom and Gabbard who have done well to recognize the many firearms sports enthusiast's here in Hawaii who REALLY appreciate their efforts and who will  support these politicians future endeavors.

I thought Ihara introduced SB2050 https://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=12997.0 and Sam Slom introduced SB2168 https://2ahawaii.com/index.php?topic=13038.0.
Tulsi Gabbard thinks that small arms belongs to the govt. as they are all too powerful and require extensive MP training - thus don't belong to the average law abiding US citizen.
